Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) did not commit to a vote when asked \u200babout its fate, citing roadblocks from both parties. Schumer mentioned the need to find a way forward as they navigate procedural challenges \u200dto move the bill efficiently and avoid lengthy debates. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), \u2063the Majority Leader, refrained from confirming a\u200d vote, attributing delays to bipartisan obstacles. \u200dSchumer \u2062emphasized the importance of overcoming procedural\u2064 hurdles to ensure a \u200cswift and streamlined bill passage, steering clear of prolonged\u200b discussions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/antisemitism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"antisemitism \">antisemitism <\/a>bill approved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2986600\/house-passes-bill-expanding-definition-antisemitism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"antisemitism \">overwhelmingly in the House<\/a> is going nowhere fast in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Prompted by the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> on Wednesday about the legislation\u2019s fate in the upper chamber, Senate Majority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/chuck-schumer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Chuck Schumer\">Chuck Schumer<\/a> (D-NY) made no commitment to put it up for a vote but also did not declare it dead.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Democrat noted there were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/2988631\/senate-moves-antisemitism-bill-campus-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"roadblocks from both parties last week \">roadblocks from both parties last week <\/a>to fast-track the bill and said leaders were still searching for options that would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-desantis-criticizes-vaccine-messaging-if-you-get-a-vaccine-youre-immune-and-so-act-immune\/\" title=\"Gov. DeSantis Criticizes Vaccine Messaging: \u2018If You Get A Vaccine \u2026 You\u2019re Immune And So, Act Immune\u2019\">avoid eating<\/a> up large amounts of floor time to run out the procedural clock.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were objections on both sides,\u201d Schumer said. \u201cWe\u2019re trying to figure out the best way to move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Senate is focused this week on meeting a Friday deadline for a must-pass federal aviation bill to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration for another five years.<\/p>\n<p>The antisemitism bill would codify the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance\u2019s definition of antisemitism and expand its meaning for the Department of Education to more easily enforce anti-discrimination laws.
