when it agreed to review a lower court ruling that will allow Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to stay on the former president\u2019s criminal case in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has argued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/georgia-gov-brian-kemp-blasts-fani-willis-political-case-trump-relationship-prosecutor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Willis\u2019 prosecution of him<\/a> is political and his legal team attempted to remove her from the case in March.<\/p>\n<p>Willis had a lengthy romantic relationship with Fulton County prosecutor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fani-willis-allegedly-warned-nathan-wades-lawyer-keep-quiet-coming-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nathan Wade<\/a>, which both parties acknowledged.<\/p>\n<p>Trump and other people being tried by Willis scrutinized the DA\u2019s personal life and finances, but Superior Court Judge Scot McAfee ruled in April that Willis could stay on the case.<\/p>\n<p>Arguments that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-legal-team-unleashes-phone-records-cast-major-doubt-fani-willis-nathan-wades-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the relationship<\/a> and financial arrangements between the two constituted a conflict of interest resulted in Wade stepping away from leading their charge to convict Trump.<\/p>\n<p>McAfee offered Trump the option to appeal his ruling and the former president\u2019s legal team did just that.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/05\/08\/politics\/georgia-trump-fani-willis-appeal\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> reported that Georgia\u2019s Court of Appeals <a href=\"https:\/\/efast.gaappeals.us\/download?filingId=f0b48054-798d-4781-8f95-d1f87666ab6d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> Wednesday morning that it would hear an appeal to McAfee\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Sadow, an attorney for Trump, told CNN the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee \u201clooks forward to presenting interlocutory arguments to the Georgia Court of Appeals as to why the case should be dismissed and Fulton County DA Willis should be disqualified for her misconduct in this unjustified, unwarranted political persecution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Willis\u2019 office did not comment on the appellate court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will Trump beat the Fulton County charges?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/georgia-court-appeals-review-trumps-bid-disqualify-da-fani-willis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a> noted, McAfee ruled in March that Trump and other targets of Willis\u2019 prosecution \u201cfailed to meet their burden of proving that the District Attorney acquired an actual conflict of interest in this case through her personal relationship and recurring travels with her lead prosecutor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McAfee concluded:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, the established record now highlights a significant appearance of impropriety that infects the current structure of the prosecution team \u2014 an appearance that must be removed through the State\u2019s selection of one of two options.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those options were either Willis\u2019 office or Wade walking away from the case.<\/p>\n<p>As CNN noted, no trial date in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-rules-trumps-georgia-case-can-continue-gives-fani-willis-two-options-wont-like\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Georgia<\/a> has been set.<\/p>\n<p>Trump received good news on Tuesday when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-gives-pardons-to-73-individuals-and-commutes-another-70-sentences-steve-bannon-is-included\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President Trump Gives Pardons to 73 Individuals and Commutes Another 70 Sentences \u2013 Steve Bannon Is Included\">federal judge overseeing<\/a> the Justice Department\u2019s classified documents case against him must be postponed indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p>Judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/just-judge-hands-trump-massive-win-suspends-trial-classified-documents-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aileen Cannon<\/a> wrote in a five-page ruling, \u201c[F]inalization of a trial date at this juncture \u2014 before resolution of the myriad and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-halts-trumps-classified-docs-trial-after-doj-admits-to-evidence-tampering\/\" title=\"Court Pauses Trump's Secret Documents Case Due to DOJ's Confession of Tampering With Evidence\">interconnected pre-trial<\/a> and [classified evidence] issues \u2026 would be imprudent and inconsistent with the Court\u2019s duty to fully and fairly consider the various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-indefinitely-postpones-trumps-classified-documents-trial\/\" title=\"Federal Judge Delays Trump's Classified Documents Trial indefinitely\">pending pre-trial motions<\/a>,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/05\/07\/trump-classified-docs-trial-delay-florida-00156680\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The news, coupled with the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court is still deciding on the issue of presidential immunity affecting both of DOJ special counsel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-calls-arrest-jack-smith-prosecutors-admit-misleading-judge-evidence-tampered\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jack Smith\u2019s<\/a> cases against Trump, likely means neither trial will begin before the November election.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ has also slapped Trump with conspiracy charges stemming from the Jan. 6, 2021, protest outside the U.S. Capitol that resulted in a brief incursion of the building.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges in both Willis\u2019 case against him and Smith\u2019s two federal cases against him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-merchan-admits-stormy-daniels-difficult-control-trumps-hush-money-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The former president<\/a> was in court in New York City Wednesday for the ongoing so-called \u201chush money\u201d trial he faces.<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has charged Trump with 34 felony counts of \u201cfalsifying business records\u201d related to payments former adult film actress Stormy Daniels, which she said she received from Trump\u2019s campaign in 2016 to stay quiet about an affair she alleged she had with him almost two decades ago.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has denied the affair. Daniels currently owes the former president hundreds of thousands of dollars after a court ruled she defamed him, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/stormy-daniels-must-pay-300k-donald-trump-losing-defamation-case-appea-rcna21002\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
