Pritzker, passed an election bill that eliminates the practice of \u200bslating, consolidating\u200d their \u2063power and sparking\u200c concerns \u2064about democracy erosion. Republicans criticized\u200d the move, alleging\u200d it favors \u200cincumbent candidates and undermines the electoral process, reflecting \u200da growing trend of altering laws to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-republicans-are-expanding-their-reach-in-state-elections\/\" title=\"Republicans are broadening their influence in state elections.\">maintain political control<\/a>. The Illinois Democrats, under \u200cGovernor J.B. Pritzker&#8217;s leadership, enacted a bill abolishing the slating practice, solidifying their authority and raising democracy concerns. Republicans denounced the change, claiming it benefits current officeholders and disrupts the election procedures, highlighting a pattern\u200c of modifying legislation to uphold political supremacy.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>If there\u2019s any doubt left that Democrats are the actual threat to the republic, take a look at what Illinois\u2019 \u201cDemocracy\u201d just did. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gov.illinois.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gov. J.B. Pritzker<\/a>, a deep-pocketed leftist with a supermajority of Democrats in the Illinois Legislature, quickly signed an election bill last week that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.illinoispolicy.org\/press-releases\/illinois-policy-institute-removal-of-candidate-slating-process-will-limit-voter-choice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quashes the practice of slating<\/a>, in which local party organizations name legislative candidates to general election ballots where the party was unable to recruit a primary candidate. Before Pritzker affixed his John Hancock to the bill, partys could appoint candidates to run up to 75 days after the primary. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1823272886\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8e41fc746027cde401bc66254a1ebc80 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8e41fc746027cde401bc66254a1ebc80\"><\/div>\n<p>Pritzker and his power-hungry Democrats could have waited to change the law until after the current election cycle. Instead, they decided to do it midstream, a slimy move that bolsters Democrats\u2019 hold on power in the Land of Lincoln. <\/p>\n<p>Senate GOP leader John Curran, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2024\/05\/02\/legislators-pass-election-bill-that-would-favor-democrats-in-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> the Chicago Tribune, blasted Democrats for \u201cchang[ing] the rules halfway through an election cycle to stack the deck for their favored incumbent candidates.\u201d The bill, he said, exemplified \u201chow you steal an election.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>As the Tribune <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2024\/05\/02\/legislators-pass-election-bill-that-would-favor-democrats-in-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported:<\/a> <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>Republicans accused Democrats of using the appointment ban in an effort to help protect some incumbents in November, most notably one of the few downstate House Democrats, state Rep. Katie Stuart of Edwardsville.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Following House passage of the bill on Wednesday, Stuart\u2019s slated Republican challenger in the fall, Jay Keeven, quickly gathered required petition signatures and filed with the State Board of Elections to appear on the November ballot.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A Republican from Northbrook, Daniel Behr, filed with the State Board of Elections to run as a challenger to Democratic state Rep. Tracy Katz Muhl at 8:41 a.m. on Friday. But that was six minutes after Pritzker\u2019s signing of<\/em> <em>the measure preventing his candidacy was filed and recorded with the Illinois secretary of state\u2019s office.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Smorgasbord of Hypocrisy<\/h2>\n<p>Pritzker defended the bill, insisting it ensures \u201cthat we don\u2019t have backroom deals to put people on the ballot and run as a result of some small group of people in a smoke-filled room making the choice.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a30305879493ac56bcbe33e69f4fd9d2 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a30305879493ac56bcbe33e69f4fd9d2\"><\/div>\n<p>The hypocrisy in that statement overflows more than the Golden Corral buffet that Pritzker apparently can\u2019t quit. Even more alluring than the dessert tray: the lure of perpetual consolidated power. <\/p>\n<p>Pritzker\u2019s governing buddy to the north, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, has long whined that Republicans who dominate the state legislature remain in power thanks to what a fellow Wisconsin Democrat called <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/wisconsin-redistricting-legislature-5bc5c0347b26a40fd615f4faf7583b46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201crigged\u201d<\/a> district maps. His leftist friends have filed lawsuit after lawsuit to, as they would have you believe, protect democracy from power-crazed Republicans. <\/p>\n<p>Now Evers and his fellow Democrats have a left-led Wisconsin Supreme Court which has, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/wisconsin-redistricting-justice-recuse-2f92a7ab6f326de16fcfb894e3e6bbb1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tie-breaking leftist on the court promised<\/a> on the campaign trail, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/justice\/wisconsin-supreme-court-overturns-republican-drawn-legislative-maps#:~:text=The%20Wisconsin%20Supreme%20Court%20has,in%20more%20than%20a%20decade.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">thrown out the old maps<\/a>. Now by drawing new maps, Wisconsin Democrats are attempting to do what Illinois Democrats have done: guarantee their party\u2019s power. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s what they do. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2e3da412d32fe062c462425a496d9c94 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2e3da412d32fe062c462425a496d9c94\"><\/div>\n<p>Pritzker\u2019s latest prick to the \u201cdemocracy\u201d balloon is predictable for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-gop-rep-david-valadao-flips-california-house-seat-its-the-third-pickup-in-the-state-for-republicans\/\" title=\"Former GOP Rep. David Valadao flips California House seat. It's the third pickup in the state for Republicans.\">deep blue state<\/a> where a county judge <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/29\/illinois-judge-kicks-trump-off-the-ballot-says-any-votes-for-him-must-be-suppressed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attempted to remove former President Donald Trump,<\/a> the GOP\u2019s candidate for president, from Illinois\u2019 primary ballot. And they would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn\u2019t been for that meddling U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Supermajority Democrats pushed through at lightning speed an amendment to an unrelated bill that ultimately delivered the kind of democracy that Illinois leftists prefer. Minority Republicans could only muster a \u201cpresent\u201d vote before walking out without a debate, Capitol News Illinois <a href=\"https:\/\/capitolnewsillinois.com\/news\/democrats-muscle-through-changes-to-ballot-access-advisory-questions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t understand the sense of urgency right now, unless the goal \u2013 the end goal \u2013 is to stifle the democratic process through the changes on slating candidates,\u201d House Minority Leader Tony McCombie said during a stairwell news conference, according to the publication. <\/p>\n<p>Of course that\u2019s the goal. The projection-prone left, which is running on hatred for Donald Trump and the fearmongering claim that Trump and his supporters are destroying democracy, is in fact feverishly working to destroy American representative democracy. Illinois\u2019 quick change to the slating rules is just one of myriad examples. <\/p>\n<p>This is what the left\u2019s \u201cdemocracy\u201d looks like. <\/p>\n<p>Even the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/richard-l-hasen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leftist-associated<\/a> Election Law Blog <a href=\"https:\/\/electionlawblog.org\/?p=142911\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a> an observation from Derek Muller over the weekend, noting that the \u201crug has been yanked out from under\u201d candidates who were preparing to be appointed to challenge incumbents.<\/p>\n<p>Muller had an interesting observation about the accomplice media aiding and abetting the Democratic Party\u2019s phony \u201cdemocracy under attack\u201d narrative. He waited a couple of days, he said, to see how media outlets would cover the story. Crickets. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p><em>After all, we are in an era where there is an explosion in journalists who identify as covering the \u201cdemocracy beat\u201d or looking for a \u201cdemocracy angle\u201d in stories. I wondered how the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Associated Press, or CNN might cover these stories. After all, they are quite attuned to what local county officials in Nevada or Arizona are doing with respect to counting ballots, or every twist and turn of an election bill in Georgia. How about this? As far as I can tell, there hasn\u2019t been any coverage in these or many other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-he-guilty-of-sexual-misconduct-depends-on-his-political-party\/\" title=\"Is He Guilty Of Sexual Misconduct? Depends On His Political Party.\">major media outlets<\/a> of America\u2019s sixth-largest state changing the rules of an election in the middle of the campaign to deprive hundreds of thousands of voters of the opportunity to choose a candidate of their preference, and as a number of candidates who behaved in a way relying on existing laws have lost their opportunity to seek office.
