While he contended that Daniels was believable when it came to the sex claim, Honig argued the cross-examination could spell trouble for prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cross-exam, boy, her responses were disastrous. I mean, \u2018Do you hate Donald Trump?\u2019 \u2018Yes.\u2019 Of course she does. That\u2019s a big deal. When the witness hates the person whose liberty is at stake? That\u2019s a big damn deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>In the case brought by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, Trump faces 34 felony counts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/are-the-charges-brought-against-the-trump-organizations-cfo-part-of-a-witch-hunt-experts-weigh-in\/\" title=\"Are The Charges Brought Against The Trump Organization\u2019s CFO Part Of A Witch Hunt? Experts Weigh In\">falsifying business records<\/a> to allegedly cover up payments, including to Daniels, in a bid to conceal damaging information as part of a \u201ccatch-and-kill\u201d scheme to influence the 2016 election. He has pleaded not guilty. When pressed on whether she wants Trump to go to jail, Daniels <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/live-blog\/trump-hush-money-trial-day-13-live-updates-rcna150793\/rcrd41250?canonicalCard=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> she wants \u201chim to be held accountable\u201d and \u201cif he is found guilty, absolutely.\u201d She also faced <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/05\/trump-hush-money-trial-stormy-daniels-3-1235907053\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">questions<\/a> about tweets suggesting she does not want to pay $500,000 in legal fees to Trump after a failed defamation lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defense is going to say she\u2019s willing to defy a court order,\u201d Honig said after raising these issues. \u201cWhy \u2014 she\u2019s not willing to respect an order of a judge, why is she going to respect this oath she took? I thought it went quite poorly on cross-exam. At the end of direct, I thought, OK, they got what they needed.
