Elie Honig, a CNN legal expert, highlighted these credibility issues, underscoring their\u200d detrimental effect on the case against Trump.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/aanton\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/aanton\/%20\"><span>Allison Anton<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 8, 2024 at 11:21am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>When even the most hysterically anti-Trump news outlet has been forced to admit the star witness in the current trial against the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/soros-funded-fake-news-network-hires-journalist-who-offered-to-give-bill-clinton-a-blowjob\/\" title=\"Soros-backed news outlet hires journalist who made inappropriate offer to Bill Clinton\">president lacks credibility<\/a>, you know that case is in trouble.<\/p>\n<p>The case in question was the \u201chush money\u201d trial Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has brought against Donald Trump regarding the alleged illegality of a payment supposedly made to porn star Stormy Daniels to prevent her from speaking about an alleged affair.<\/p>\n<p>Taking the stand on Tuesday, and irritating the entire courtroom with an unending string of needless details, Daniels\u2019 testimony forced even a CNN legal expert to cast doubts on her overall credibility.<\/p>\n<p>Senior CNN legal analyst Elie Honig appeared on a panel on Anderson Cooper\u2019s show, discussing Daniels\u2019 testimony and cross-examination by the defense.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mchsOA2RDus?si=oTCY8tojoPj4w3cG\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While his peers were more impressed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/not-a-joke-trump-will-be-convicted-in-hush-money-case-stormy-daniels-disgraced-ex-lawyer-says-from-behind-bars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniels\u2019 testimony<\/a>, especially under cross-examination, Honig admitted he had \u201cthe exact opposite impression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Honig, while Daniels was \u201cplausible on her explanation of what happened in that hotel room\u201d in 2006, she nevertheless fell flat on her face with the cross-examination.<\/p>\n<p>In Honig\u2019s words, in the cross-examination, \u201cher responses were disastrous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Citing one of the questions put to Daniels, Honig said \u201c\u2018Do you hate Donald Trump?\u2019 Yes, of course she does. That\u2019s a big deal. When the witness hates the person whose liberty is at stake, that\u2019s a big d*** deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should this case against Trump be thrown out?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Honig continued, saying that \u201cshe\u2019s putting out tweets, fantasizing about him being in jail? That really undermines the credibility. The fact that she owes him $500,000 \u2014 She, by order of a court, owes Donald Trump a half a million dollars, and said, \u2018I will never pay him, I will defy a court order.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Honig pointed out, her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/meads-biden-a-self-admitted-gaffe-machine-eats-it-big-time-in-europe-with-three-major-mistakes\/\" title=\"MEADS: Biden, A Self-Admitted \u2018Gaffe Machine,\u2019 Eats It Big Time In Europe With Three Major Mistakes\">statements left<\/a> a great weak spot for the defense to exploit: \u201cThe defense is going to say, she\u2019s willing to defy a court order \u2026 She\u2019s not going to respect the order of a judge, why is she going to respect this oath she took?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo,\u201d Honig concluded, \u201cI thought it went quite poorly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ouch.<\/p>\n<p>Now, of course, Honig was only articulating what most who have been paying attention (without being blinded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/msnbc-leftist-melts-learning-trumps-big-court-win-dont-even-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump Derangement Syndrome<\/a>) already knew quite well.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels\u2019 whole motivation in going after Trump has been the same as everyone else who has been prosecuting him \u2014 to prevent him from winning the presidency again in November.<\/p>\n<p>She freely admitted on the stand that she hated him, and, as <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4647267-witness-testimony-trump-hush-money-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a> recapped for the curious public, Daniels admitted she has thus far failed to pay the money she owed to Trump because it \u201cwasn\u2019t fair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-trump-trial-judge-tosses-mistrial-request-after-stormy-daniels-takes-stand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Post Millennial<\/a> likewise reported that Judge Juan Merchan, despite tossing out the defense\u2019s mistrial request, nevertheless had to admit Daniels went into far too much detail and was \u201cdifficult to control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For these and many other reasons (including previously signing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/stormy-daniels-ruins-kimmel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> saying her story about the affair was false), Daniels was not a credible witness, and could only hinder rather than help the prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>And the fact that even a CNN legal expert could readily admit that her cross-examination was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-merchan-admits-stormy-daniels-difficult-control-trumps-hush-money-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disastrous<\/a> for the prosecution was incredibly telling.<\/p>\n<p>Why should a witness who says they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-reports-court-appeals-awards-trump-600k-stormy-daniels-defamation-suit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hate the defendant<\/a> and who has refused a court order to pay that defendant be listened to?<\/p>\n<p>Even the most legally ignorant member of the jury had to be asking questions about her credibility after she admitted that.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels cannot be trusted to tell the truth.<\/p>\n<p>But, between her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nevertrumps-latest-attempt-to-dismiss-election-concerns-is-particularly-dishonest\/\" title=\"NeverTrump\u2019s Latest Attempt To Dismiss Election Concerns Is Particularly Dishonest\">active social media presence<\/a> and eager appearances on shows like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-stormy-daniels-calls-trump-supporters-suicide-bombers-appearance-view\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The View,<\/a> that should have been clear before the trial ever started.<\/p>\n<p>It was only because of the blind prejudice of folks like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alvin-braggs-team-begs-judge-pile-even-punishment-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alvin Bragg<\/a> that this trial got as far as it did in the first place.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>We who work here at The Western Journal have fought for years against Big Tech and the elites who want to shut us down and then shut America down. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Make no mistake \u2014 nothing will be the same after November 2024.
