The SBA&#8217;s collaboration with Michigan for voter registration raised constitutional concerns.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden\u2019s Small Business Administration (SBA) was subpoenaed by the House Committee on Small Business on Tuesday over alleged efforts to \u201cregister Democrat voters\u201d in Michigan, a vital battleground state in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>House Republican leaders on the Small Business Committee said they issued two subpoenas for SBA officials after \u201cthey failed to comply with an investigation into potential <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-house-republicans-demand-investigation-into-bidens-order-to-promote-voter-registration\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans Demand Investigation Into Biden\u2019s Order To \u2018Promote Voter Registration\u2019\">electioneering activities<\/a>\u201d allegedly carried out by the agency. SBA Special Advisor Tyler Robinson and Chief of Staff Arthur Plews were subpoenaed after they didn\u2019t appear for transcribed interviews with the committee, Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/key-biden-agency-slapped-historic-subpoenas-improper-swing-state-voter-registration-push\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. The Biden administration officials are also accused of failing to hand over documents related to an alleged effort to divert \u201cresources away from assisting Main Street so it can register Democrat voters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that we are having to issue subpoenas to speak with SBA officials is extremely disappointing,\u201d said House Small Business Committee Chairman Roger Williams (R-TX) said it\u2019s \u201cunfortunate\u201d that the subpoenas had to be issued, but added, \u201cThe American people deserve answers and transparency on the electioneering activities of the SBA and how they have or plan to insert themselves in the upcoming federal elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SBA\u2019s sole mission is to help Main Street thrive and grow, and they have repeatedly strayed from that mission to pursue outside political objectives,\u201d Williams added. \u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate that we have arrived at this point, but this Committee is determined to get answers on behalf of the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The House committee said it was the first time in history that it had subpoenaed the SBA, according to Fox News. Republicans on the Small Business Committee believe that a recent memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Michigan Department of State announced by the SBA could be unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>The MOU was labeled a \u201cfirst-of-its-kind collaboration\u201d intended to \u201cpromote civic engagement and voter registration in Michigan.\u201d The voter registration collaboration between the SBA and the Michigan state government is supposed to run through the end of 2035.<\/p>\n<p>A March <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/sos\/resources\/news\/2024\/03\/20\/mdos-and-us-small-business-administration-announce-voter-registration-agreement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a> from the Michigan Department of State announced its agreement with the SBA and said it would \u201ccreate a unique URL for the SBA to use to drive online visitors to register to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SBA\u2019s Michigan field office may also allow MDOS officials to conduct in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-desantis-calls-for-change-at-the-rnc\/\" title=\"Gov. Currently, former President Donald Trump leads Biden in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/michigan\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polling<\/a> in Michigan by just over one point, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.<\/p>\n<p>Biden faces on-the-ground problems in the battleground state as Michigan\u2019s large population of Muslim voters, who typically vote Democrat, have opposed the president\u2019s handling of the war between Israel and Hamas.
