Subpoenas\u200c were issued after the officials failed to comply voluntarily, sparking\u2063 scrutiny\u200d on the SBA&#8217;s involvement in political activities \u2064and its alleged misuse\u200d of taxpayer resources. \u200dRepublican representatives criticize the agency&#8217;s actions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 8, 2024 at 7:08am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A House committee has issued subpoenas to two officials with the Small Business Administration after not receiving answers about a program designed to register swing state voters for a month.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the SBA announced a partnership with Michigan state government to connect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cuomo-to-partially-reopen-indoor-dining-in-nyc-for-valentines-day-if-positivity-rates-hold\/\" title=\"Cuomo To Partially Reopen Indoor Dining In NYC For Valentine\u2019s Day, \u2018If Positivity Rates Hold\u2019\">small business owners<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dcs-election-takeover-is-unconstitutional-and-impractical-leave-it-to-the-states\/\" title=\"DC\u2019s Election Takeover Is Unconstitutional And Impractical \u2013 Leave It To The States\">voter registration information<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/key-biden-agency-slapped-historic-subpoenas-improper-swing-state-voter-registration-push\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership with Michigan\u2019s Democrat-run <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/michigan-tries-to-convince-residents-to-pick-immigrants-up-at-airport-help-them-find-housing-and-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of State<\/a>, which oversees elections, \u201cwill help connect Michiganders to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidenbucks-tentacles-expand-as-judge-shuts-down-lawsuit\/\" title=\"Bidenbucks' Influence Grows Following Lawsuit Shutdown\">vital voter registration information<\/a> from the State of Michigan, so that more small business owners can exercise their right to vote,\u201d SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman said at the time.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">SBA\u2019s Isabel Guzman: Michigan\u2019s deep state female flake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SBA\u2019s sole mission is to help Main Street thrive and grow, and they have repeatedly strayed from that mission to pursue outside political objectives\u2026\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/h91RoGAtRg\">https:\/\/t.co\/h91RoGAtRg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ElectionNotes (@ElectionNotes) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ElectionNotes\/status\/1787928331473571932?\">May 7, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But the House Committee on Small Business has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/michigan-judge-refuses-dems-bidding-hands-trump-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">questions<\/a> about the project, and for the past month has tried to interview SBA Chief of Staff Arthur Plews and his special adviser, Tyler Robinson.<\/p>\n<p>In April, a <a href=\"https:\/\/smallbusiness.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=405938\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> to the agency said it was \u201cunacceptable for the SBA to divert resources from serving small businesses, so it can register voters in Michigan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Because the two were no-shows, subpoenas were issued in what the committee said was the first time it had subpoenaed the agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SBA\u2019s MOU with the Michigan Department of State is improper, inappropriate, and perhaps, unconstitutional,\u201d committee chair Rep. Roger Williams of Texas said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should the Small Business Administration be forced to stop its voter registration initiative?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe SBA was created for one reason: to assist our nation\u2019s small businesses. It has no reason whatsoever to involve itself in political and potentially electioneering activities. Moreover, the fact the SBA would divert resources away from Main Street, so it can focus on voter registration in a battleground state is an affront to our job creators especially for all they do for our communities and economy. Americans have a right to know what exactly is going on here, and this Committee plans on getting answers,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that we are having to issue subpoenas to speak with SBA officials is extremely disappointing,\u201d he said in a news release on the <a href=\"https:\/\/smallbusiness.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=405968\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">committee\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe committee has given these two individuals the opportunity to speak with us voluntarily, but this appears to be the only way to get them to comply with our constitutionally mandated oversight responsibilities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Biden\u2019s been misappropriating the state of Michigan\u2019s SBA funds to register Democrat voters.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 JD Sharp (@imjdsharp) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/imjdsharp\/status\/1787922134989144171?\">May 7, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0American people deserve answers and transparency on the electioneering activities of the SBA and how they have or plan to insert themselves in the upcoming federal elections. The SBA\u2019s sole mission is to help Main Street thrive and grow, and they have repeatedly strayed from that mission to pursue outside political objectives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Rep. Dan Meuser of Pennsylvania said it was \u201cunconscionable that during such a precarious time for our nation\u2019s small businesses, the sole federal agency created to serve as their advocate is instead utilizing their limited taxpayer resources and time to advance partisan political campaigns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt shows a total disregard for our nation\u2019s small businesses and gross administrative malpractice,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe SBA\u2019s MOU with the Michigan Department of State is a blatant attempt by the Biden Administration to illegally use the SBA as an extension of the President\u2019s campaign. They are working to elect Democrats, which is abundantly clear considering registration efforts are targeted at cities like Detroit and other urban areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a scandal and yet another illegal action from President Biden. Those involved in this illegal effort will be held accountable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt every step, the Small Business Administration has obstructed our investigation into the Biden Administration\u2019s misuse of taxpayer dollars for campaign efforts,\u201d Republican Rep. Beth Van Duyne of Texas said. \u201cWe will not stop investigating and are committed to exposing the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/smallbusiness.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/05.07.2024_-_subpoena_tyler_robinson_signed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> sent by the committee noted that it has been unable to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/michigan-ag-charging-16-trump-supporters-eight-felonies-monstrous-injustice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secure testimony<\/a> from the SBA officials since early April and that the SBA had not provided anything other than superficial written information that did not answer the panel\u2019s questions.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
