Tom Cotton (R-AR) that would sanction the International Criminal Court if it issues arrest warrants against Israel officials over Israel\u2019s war effort against Hamas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul (R-TX), the House is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/05\/07\/house-republicans-icc-sanctions-draft-precaution\">preparing<\/a> a companion bill. The Biden administration revoked a Trump administration executive order that would have held the ICC accountable for such behavior.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">On April 29, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/speaker-johnson-statement-on-potential-icc-arrest-warrants-for-netanyahu-israeli-officials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> in\u00a0 which he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em>It is disgraceful that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is reportedly planning to issue baseless and illegitimate arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials. Such a lawless action by the ICC would directly undermine U.S. national security interests. If unchallenged by the Biden administration, the ICC could create and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bipartisan-u-s-officials-warn-icc-destroys-its-credibility-by-targeting-israel\/\" title=\"Bipartisan U.S. Officials caution ICC's credibility damaged targeting Israel\">assume unprecedented power<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-jury-reaches-verdict-in-ahmaud-arbery-murder-trial\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Jury Reaches Verdict In Ahmaud Arbery Murder Trial\">issue arrest warrants<\/a> against American political leaders, American diplomats, and American military personnel, thereby endangering our country\u2019s sovereign authority. Instead of wrongly targeting Israel, the ICC should pursue charges against Iran and its terror proxies, including Hamas, for engaging in horrific war crimes. The Biden Administration must immediately and unequivocally demand that the ICC stand down and the U.S. should use every available tool to prevent such an abomination.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">In early February, Cotton <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cotton.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/cotton-colleagues-introduce-bill-to-sanction-the-international-criminal-court\">introduced<\/a> a bill with Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) to sanction officials and associates of the International Criminal Court (ICC) who investigate or prosecute U.S. troops and officials and allies who do not recognize the authority of the ICC, such as Israel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">On April 24, Cotton and 10 other GOP senators sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/4646527-gop-conservatives-threaten-icc-sanctions-israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> to the ICC warning them that if they issued international arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials, \u201cWe will move to end all American support for the ICC, sanction your employees and associates, and bar you and your families from the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1715184052205000&#038;usg=AOvVaw30mpznqHO0I3crFOdodkQW\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The letter noted, \u201cIssuing arrest warrants for the leaders of Israel would not only be unjustified, it would expose your organization\u2019s hypocrisy and double standards.
