Although she had 31.2% of the vote, \u2064winning over competitors, reports of her death were not widely known. Despite this, her impactful campaign and beliefs were highlighted by those who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/major-republican-donors-circling-back-to-supporting-trump-i-want-to-win\/\" title=\"Top GOP donors returning to back Trump: 'I'm focused on victory'\">considered supporting<\/a> her. \u2062Jennifer Pace, a leading candidate in the Republican primary for Indiana&#8217;s 7th District\u2062 in Indianapolis, tragically passed away. Despite holding\u200b 31.2% of the vote and surpassing\u200c other contenders, news of her passing\u200b was not widely disseminated. However, her campaign and\u2064 values \u200cresonated with those who acknowledged her potential.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A candidate who reportedly<strong> <\/strong>passed away after the deadline to remove names from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"ballot\">ballot<\/a> was winning the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Republican\">Republican<\/a> primary in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/indiana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Indiana\">Indiana<\/a>\u2019s 7th District, which includes the majority of Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Pace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indystar.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2024\/05\/07\/indiana-7th-congressional-district-election-rep-andre-carson-pierre-pullins-curtis-godfrey\/73450862007\/\" title>was declared the winner by the <em>Indianapolis Star<\/em><\/a>  with over 99%<strong> <\/strong>of precincts reporting. She had received 31.2% of the vote as of early Wednesday morning, besting retired Army Lt. Catherine Ping who had 29.9% of the vote, retired postal worker Phillip Davis came in at<strong> <\/strong>25.7%, and former Evansville mayor candidate Gabe Whitley, who received<strong> <\/strong>13.1% support. <\/p>\n<p>Ping has ran for the 7th District seat four times in the past including in 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Associated Press<\/em> has yet to declare a winner at the time this article was published. <\/p>\n<p>Pace, 59, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ky-rep-barr-scores-125-co-sponsors-for-carol-act-in-honor-of-his-late-wife-who-died-from-heart-disease\/\" title=\"Ky. Rep. The Indiana Republican Party appeared to confirm Pace\u2019s death in an email inquiry from the <em>Washington Examiner <\/em>asking for verification.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our understanding\u00a0that, that is accurate,\u201d said Griffin Reid, Press Secretary and Digital Director for the Indiana Republican Party. Andre Carson (D-IN), who has served nine terms since filling the seat in a 2007 special election. Carson\u2019s seat was previously held by Julia Carson, his grandmother.
