Iger said this decision is part of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/disney\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Disney<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2019s broader strategy of shifting focus from quantity to quality, which is \u201cparticularly true with Marvel,\u201d per <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/tv\/news\/marvel-tv-shows-movies-reduced-bob-iger-disney-1235994149\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Variety<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe\u2019re slowly going to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-reportedly-set-to-gift-health-plan-aid-to-illegal-migrants\/\" title=\"Biden Reportedly Set to Gift Health Plan Aid to Illegal Migrants\">decrease volume<\/a> and go to probably about two <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/entertainment\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">TV series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two, or a maximum of three,\u201d Iger said. \u201cAnd we\u2019re working hard on what that path is.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The exec continued, saying <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/marvel\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Marvel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  has \u201ca couple of good films in \u201925 and then we\u2019re heading to more \u2018Avengers,\u2019 which we\u2019re extremely excited about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOverall, I feel great about the slate. It\u2019s something that I\u2019ve committed to spending more and more time on. The team is one that I have tremendous confidence in and the IP that we\u2019re mining, including all the sequels that we\u2019re doing, is second to none,\u201d Iger said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The only Marvel movie coming out in 2024 is \u201cDeadpool &#038; Wolverine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The outlet noted that Marvel Studios has four films scheduled for 2025, including \u201cCaptain America: Brave New World,\u201d \u201cThunderbolts,\u201d \u201cThe Fantastic Four,\u201d and \u201cBlade.\u201d The studio also has several films slated for 2026, including the fifth \u201cAvengers\u201d movie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Iger has expressed his intention to reduce the number of sequels and franchise films in the past, but this is the first time the Disney CEO put a specific number on it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When asked to explain the balance of content, Iger said, \u201cWe\u2019re gonna balance sequels with originals. Specifically in animation, we had gone through a period where our original films and animation, both Disney and Pixar, were dominating. We\u2019re now swinging back a bit to lean on sequels.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Disney has had more than its fair share of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nolte-best-picture-nominees-are-all-box-office-flops-and-tv-movies\/\" title=\"Nolte: Best Picture Nominees Are All Box Office Flops and TV Movies\">box office flops<\/a> in recent years, especially in the superhero genre. Both \u201cAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania\u201d and \u201cThe Marvels\u201d were box office disappointments in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Iger was formerly the CEO of Disney from 2005 until 2020. He was replaced by Bob Chapek and then reinstated to his position in November 2022 when Chapek got fired.
