His federal trial had been scheduled to start May 20, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/amp\/2024\/05\/07\/trump-classified-documents-trial-postponed-indefinitely.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.flsd.648652\/gov.uscourts.flsd.648652.530.0_2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ruling<\/a> from U.S. District <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/left-wing-press-full-meltdown-mode-judge-trump-classified-docs-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Judge Aileen Cannon<\/a> scraps that date and sets a new slate of pretrial activities that begin Wednesday and continue through July 22.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling does not set a date for the trial<\/p>\n<p>Cannon wrote that it \u201cwould be imprudent\u201d to finalize a trial date \u201cat this juncture\u201d when various pretrial issues have yet to be resolved.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling said more time is needed \u201cto permit adequate time for hearings and adjudication of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-rejects-trumps-bid-to-hold-jack-smith-in-contempt-but-limits-substantive-filings\/\" title=\"Judge denies Trump's request to hold Jack Smith in contempt, but restricts 'substantive' filings\">substantive pretrial motions<\/a>, discovery disputes, and CIPA issues, many of which present novel and difficult questions.\u201d CIPA is the acronym for the Classified Information Procedures Act.<\/p>\n<p>One major issue that needed to be resolved, according to the judge, was how classified information would be handled during the trial, citing \u201cadditional pretrial and trial preparations necessary to present this case to a jury.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A May 20 date would be \u201cinconsistent with the Court\u2019s duty to fully and fairly consider\u201d those issues, she wrote.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will the lawfare against Trump keep him from being elected in November?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe Court therefore vacates the current May 20, 2024, trial date (and associated calendar call), to be reset by separate order following resolution of the matters before the Court, consistent with Defendants\u2019 right to due process and the public\u2019s interest in the fair and efficient administration of justice,\u201d Cannon wrote.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/judge-delays-donald-trumps-classified-documents-trial-indefinitely\/story?id=110006887\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC<\/a>, Department of Justice prosecutor Jack Smith declined to comment on the delay.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Judge Cannon delays Trump\u2019s classified documents case indefinitely!<\/p>\n<p>This move indicates that this case will NOT go to trial before Election Day, essentially nullifying the case if Trump were to win, who could then pardon himself and end this charade.<\/p>\n<p>The Deep State have failed\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0jM6zg7eLP\">pic.twitter.com\/0jM6zg7eLP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Clandestine (@WarClandestine) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WarClandestine\/status\/1787959756046368785?\">May 7, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>  Last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jack-smiths-team-admits-tampered-key-evidence-trumps-case-misled-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smith\u2019s team<\/a> revealed that at some point after boxes of documents were seized from Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago estate, the order of the documents changed, which the court did not learn about until now.<\/p>\n<p>The revelation was contained in a new <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-05\/gov.uscourts.flsd_.648653.522.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">court filing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But the detail is a big deal, because part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jack-smiths-nuclear-option-will-directly-target-judge-trump-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump\u2019s defense<\/a> is expected to be that documents were packed in chronological order, with no regard for classification marking, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/politics-policy\/all-things-trump\/trump-whodunnit-prosecutors-admit-key-evidence-document-case-has\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Just the News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trump reacted to the news by posing \u201cARREST DERANGED JACK SMITH. HE IS A CRIMINAL!\u201d on <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/112380543524874769\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Truth Social<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has always been clear that the \u2018Documents Case\u2019 is nothing but an Election Interference Scam concocted by Crooked Joe Biden, Deranged Jack Smith, and their Hacks and Thugs,\u201d Trump also posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/112379718145784478\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Truth Social<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, Deranged Jack has admitted in a filing in front of Judge Cannon to what I have been saying happened since the Illegal RAID on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida \u2014 That he and his team committed blatant Evidence Tampering by mishandling the very Boxes they used as a pretext to bring this Fake Case.
