Kevin Parker called the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/legislation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>legislation<\/a> unconstitutional after being accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/rape\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>rape<\/a> last November.<\/p>\n<p>The Adult Survivors Act, passed in May 2022, gave alleged victims of sexual assault who have passed the statutes of limitations a one-year period to file a civil suit. The time window for filing began on November 24, 2022, and ended a year later. <\/p>\n<p>Parker was accused by Olga Jean-Baptiste of rape in 2004 when they were working at her home on relief efforts in Haiti. Parker allegedly grabbed her by the wrists and forcibly raped her. Jean-Baptiste filed the claim against Parker in November 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The Brooklyn state senator denied the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI voted in favor of the [Adult Survivors Act] to ensure all New Yorkers can seek justice and be heard,\u201d Parker wrote of the legislation \u201cThese allegations are absolutely untrue. In 2005, he was charged with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/syrian-born-boulder-shooting-suspect-known-to-the-fbi-suffered-from-paranoia-mental-illness\/\" title=\"Syrian-Born Boulder Shooting Suspect \u2018Known To The FBI,\u2019 Suffered From Paranoia, Mental Illness\">misdemeanor assault<\/a> after hitting a police officer who wrote him a ticket.<\/p>\n<p>A few years following that incident, Parker smashed a <em>New York Post<\/em> photographer\u2019s camera as he was taking photos of him outside his home.
