Jared Polis. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/sb24-233\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Senate Bill 24-233<\/a><\/strong> would reduce property taxes between $300 and $400 \u2013 a 7% to 10% cut compared to current tax rates \u2013 for homes worth $700,000 or less. The bill also would cap local property tax rates at 5.5% in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are saving Coloradans money on property taxes and making Colorado more affordable,\u201d the governor said in a statement. \u201cNo one should be priced out of their home because they can\u2019t afford their property tax bill and this bipartisan effort will help support current and future homeowners, as well as the success of Colorado small businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Commercial property taxes would be reduced under the proposal, with the assessed valuation declining from 29% to 27.9% in 2024, and a 1% annual reduction until reaching 25% in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBusinesses and individuals across Colorado have faced historic rate increases that threaten our economic growth on a broad scale, from driving up the cost of doing business to exacerbating the housing affordability crisis,\u201d Loren Furman, president and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/canadian-olympic-committee-warns-athletes-not-to-criticize-china\/\" title=\"Canadian Olympic Committee Warns Athletes Not to Criticize China\">chief executive officer<\/a> of the Colorado Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement. \u201cThis solution takes a balanced approach to providing critical property tax relief while also preserving funding for local services and protecting voter-approved bonds for housing and infrastructure needs across the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The proposal sets the levy imposed by a school district at 7.15% of the actual value of a property. Local governmental entities, except school districts, would have a levy of 6.7% of the property value.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I believe the proposal represents responsible reform that preserves adequate funding for state services, there\u2019s no question that there are sacrifices that this bill, SB24-233, requires at the local government level,\u201d Scott Wasserman, president of the Bell Policy Center, said in a statement. \u201cThis is in large part because of demands to accelerate the reduction of the commercial assessment rates much faster than we, and more moderate business groups, were initially comfortable with. Despite progressive leadership at the state Capitol, legislators will continue to be forced to make less-than-ideal concessions to conservative forces spending big sums of money to threaten the legislature with competing ballot measures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Initiative #50 and #108 will be on the November ballot. If total statewide property tax revenue is projected to increase more than 4% compared to the preceding year, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coloradosos.gov\/pubs\/elections\/Initiatives\/titleBoard\/filings\/2023-2024\/50Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Initiative #50<\/a><\/strong> would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-democrats-fail-to-pass-single-payer-health-care-bill\/\" title=\"California Democrats Fail to Pass Single-payer Health Care Bill\">require voter approval<\/a> to retain the additional revenue. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coloradosos.gov\/pubs\/elections\/Initiatives\/titleBoard\/filings\/2023-2024\/108Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Initiative #108<\/a><\/strong> would set the valuation for the assessment of residential property at 5.7% of the actual value of the property for tax beginning in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Wasserman stated Colorado leaders would unite against the initiative\u2019s \u201cnuclear attack\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sjwasserman\/status\/1787164628763480221\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in a post<\/a><\/strong> on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no larger coalition than the majority of voters,\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MichaelCLFields\/status\/1787175035653755316\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a><\/strong> Michael Fields, president of Advance Colorado, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-gov-pushes-legislation-to-curb-big-tech-content-moderation\/\" title=\"Texas Gov Pushes Legislation to Curb Big Tech Content Moderation\">conservative advocacy group<\/a> that\u2019s backing the measures. \u201cAnd they want <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-crenshaw-headlines-n-h-gop-fundraiser-denies-rumors-about-run-for-white-house-2024\/\" title=\"Rep.
