The campaign aims to expand its reach, \u200bwith Trump planning a key event in Minnesota soon.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Top officials in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>former President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s campaign for reelection <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/private-donor-retreat-trump-team-215444416.html?guccounter=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>believe<\/a> the relatively blue states of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/minnesota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Minnesota<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/virginia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Virginia<\/a> are in play for the GOP ahead of the 2024 general election.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2008, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.270towin.com\/states\/Virginia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Virginia<\/a> has voted for a Democratic president consistently. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.270towin.com\/states\/minnesota\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Minnesota<\/a> has been voting Democrats into the presidency for much longer, having voted consistently blue since 1976.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a real, real opportunity in expanding the map in Virginia and Minnesota,\u201d senior Trump adviser Chris LaCivita told NBC News. <\/p>\n<p>Next week, Trump is set to host a GOP annual dinner in Minnesota, which will mark his first visit to the state this campaign season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to welcome President Trump back to Minnesota to headline our Lincoln Reagan dinner, an annual tradition that reminds us of the roots of our Party and the leaders who have been most impactful in promoting our American values,\u201d Minnesota Republican Party Chairman David Hann said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/donald-trump-to-headline-minnesota-gop-dinner\/600364046\/?refresh=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota Democrats expressed skepticism about Trump\u2019s chances in the state. In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/2016-election\/results\/map\/president\/minnesota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>2016<\/a>, he lost Minnesota by more than 43,000 votes, and in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/2020-election\/results\/minnesota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>2020<\/a> he lost the state by a much wider margin of more than 233,000 votes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy doubling down on Donald Trump and his MAGA agenda, Minnesota Republicans are tying their fate to his in November,\u201d Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement. \u201cMinnesota voters have repeatedly rejected Donald Trump and his efforts to ban abortion, take away their health insurance, and attack our democracy. Republicans up and down the ballot will have to answer for why they are abandoning Minnesota values and kissing Donald Trump\u2019s ring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Virginia, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2024\/05\/06\/can-trump-win-virginia\/73588346007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>lost the state<\/a> in 2016 by more than 212,000 votes and lost again in 2020 by more than 451,000 votes. A recent poll from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roanoke.edu\/news\/rc_poll_politics_feb_2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Roanoke College<\/a> showed Trump polling below Biden by 4 points in Virginia. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think anybody believes it will be close to that 10 points,\u201d Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia\u2019s Center for Politics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wric.com\/news\/politics\/local-election-hq\/can-donald-trump-win-virginia-in-2024-a-longtime-political-analyst-says-thats-highly-unlikely\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>told ABC8News<\/a>. \u201cIt may be more like Hillary Clinton\u2019s five points in 2016.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The news from the Trump campaign comes as the Biden campaign is eyeing North Carolina and Florida, historic swing states that have moved toward Republicans in recent years, areas they believe they can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/interview-az-gop-senate-candidate-blake-masters-talks-border-crisis-big-tech-election-integrity-and-more\/\" title=\"INTERVIEW: AZ GOP Senate Candidate Blake Masters Talks Border Crisis, Big Tech, Election Integrity, And More\">flip blue<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign believes they have a chance to flip Florida blue for the first time since 2008 as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/2990625\/florida-clarifies-medical-emergencies-under-abortion-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>restrictive<\/a> abortion policy recently went into effect.
