They declared \u2062a refusal to hire \u2062any new members joining Columbia from the class of 2024 onwards, \u2064citing a lack of \u2064confidence in the university as an \u200dinstitution\u200d of higher education.\u200b The judges\u200c urged Columbia to\u200b address these issues to \u200crestore \u2062its reputation.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a letter to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/columbia-university\">Columbia University<\/a> President Minouche Shafik, thirteen federal judges, outraged by what they termed the \u201cexplosion of student disruptions, anti-semitism, and hatred for diverse viewpoints on campuses\u201d at the university, declared they would not hire anyone who joins the Columbia University community \u2014 whether as undergraduates or law students \u2014 beginning with the entering class of 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAs judges who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/citing-concern-for-free-speech-12-federal-judges-say-they-wont-take-clerks-from-yale-law-school\/\" title=\"Citing Concern for Free Speech, 12 Federal Judges Say They Won\u2019t Take Clerks from Yale Law School\">hire law clerks<\/a> every year to serve in the federal judiciary, we have lost confidence in Columbia as an institution of higher education. Columbia has instead become an incubator of bigotry,\u201d the judges stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The judges asserted that if the university were truly serious about restoring its once fabled reputation, it would implement \u201cserious consequences for students and faculty who have participated in campus disruptions and violated established rules concerning the use of university facilities and public spaces and threats against fellow members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rutgers-university-will-require-students-to-be-vaccinated-for-covid-19-to-attend-in-person-classes\/\" title=\"Rutgers University Will Require Students To Be Vaccinated For COVID-19 To Attend In-Person Classes\">university community<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cUniversities should also identify students who engage in such conduct so that future employers can avoid hiring them,\u201d they wrote. \u201cIf not, employers are forced to assume the risk that anyone they hire from Columbia may be one of these disruptive and hateful students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cSpeech is not violence, and violence is not speech,\u201d they continued. \u201cUniversities that are serious about academic freedom understand the difference, and they enforce the rules accordingly. It has become clear that Columbia applies double standards when it comes to\u00a0free speech and student misconduct. If Columbia had been faced with a campus uprising of religious conservatives upset because they view abortion as a tragic genocide, we have no doubt that the university\u2019s response would have been profoundly different.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cRecent events demonstrate that ideological homogeneity throughout the entire institution of Columbia has destroyed its ability to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mob-loses-a-round-university-will-keep-clarence-thomas-amid-liberal-pressure-campaign\/\" title=\"Mob Loses a Round: University Will Keep Clarence Thomas Amid Liberal Pressure Campaign\">train future leaders<\/a> of a pluralistic and intellectually diverse country,\u201d they contended, \u201cBoth professors and administrators are on the front lines of the campus disruptions, encouraging the virulent spread of antisemitism and bigotry.
