Over the subsequent decade, however \u2014 and with the release of poorly-received projects like \u201cThe Last Jedi\u201d and \u201cThe Book of Boba Fett\u201d \u2014 that hope faded fast.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s 12-year run with the franchise has produced far more failures than successes, often to the bewilderment and criticism of diehard franchise fans.<\/p>\n<p>One such fan, MMA fighter Matt Serra, ranted about one of the company\u2019s most recent failures, the Disney Plus series \u201cAhsoka,\u201d during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n4T-AJ1alag&#038;t=0s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April 4 appearance<\/a> on the JRE podcast.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>WARNING: The following quotes contain language some readers may find offensive.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sick of this woke s**t,\u201d Serra <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sWm2a1MFuWo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201clet me tell you loud and clear, I\u2019m sick of what they did to f***ing Star Wars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After making it clear he loves strong female characters, Serra ripped the Disney-fied Star Wars brand for its portrayal of \u201cstrong\u201d women \u2014 especially when it came to the 2023 streaming show \u201cAhsoka.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Has Disney ruined Star Wars?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For those unaware, \u201cAhsoka\u201d \u2014 which aired on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disney-price-hike-searches-surge-510-cancel-disney-plus-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney Plus<\/a> \u2014 was a Star Wars series featuring the titular character, Ahsoka Tano, a female Jedi warrior who previously appeared in two well-received animated shows \u2014 \u201cStar Wars: The Clone Wars\u201d and \u201cStar Wars: Rebels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The character\u2019s story previously ended with the series finale of \u201cRebels\u201d in 2018. However, executive producer and Ahsoka Tano co-creator Dave Filoni wanted to bring her back \u2014 along with other characters from \u201cRebels\u201d \u2014 with her very own series.<\/p>\n<p>Thus the 2023 show was born as a continuation of Ahsoka\u2019s story.<\/p>\n<p>One of Serra\u2019s biggest issues with the new series was its treatment of the character Ezra Bridger, the young male protagonist from \u201cRebels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Serra pointed out that all the female characters one-uped Ezra.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the new show strips Ezra of his lightsaber from \u201cRebels\u201d and gives it instead to a female character.<\/p>\n<p>Then Joe Rogan chimed in to make one final point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere\u2019s the thing: It\u2019s not really Star Wars,\u201d Rogan said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStar Wars is Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader and that\u2019s it. It\u2019s Obi-Wan Kenobi, it\u2019s C3P0, everything else is just stealing my money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many predicted that such a show might be a hard sell for general audiences.
