VA Press Secretary Hayes emphasized the agency&#8217;s dedication to \u2062providing top-notch healthcare and stated actions are\u200b being taken to enhance VA services based on IG recommendations. Senator Rubio raised \u2064similar concerns to VA Secretary McDonough,\u2062 questioning payment policies for healthcare\u200d providers. VA will directly address Rubio&#8217;s concerns.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>(The Center Square) \u2013 The U.S. Department of Veterans\u2019 Affairs pledged to protect veterans and address any problems identified by federal watchdogs after an Inspector General report raised concerns about the physicians employed by the VA.<\/p>\n<p>Press Secretary Terrence Hayes responded to an inquiry from The Center Square about recent IG reports. The reports in question said that the healthcare wing of the VA was paying doctors to care for veterans even after those doctors had been disqualified for safety reasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt VA, our mission is to make sure Veterans get the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/veterans-affairs-proposes-paying-for-gender-reassignment-surgeries\/\" title=\"Veterans affairs proposes paying for gender reassignment surgeries\">world-class health care<\/a> they deserve from caring, qualified professionals \u2013 and we will never settle for anything less,\u201d Hayes told The Center Square. \u201cInspector General reviews like this help us make VA health care better, and we are already taking action to address the OIG\u2019s recommendations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As The Center Square previously reported, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., raised questions with Secretary of Department of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough about the treatment of veterans.<\/p>\n<p>His letter pointed out that internal policies at the VA would not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-hhs-rolls-back-religious-conscience-protections-for-doctors\/\" title=\"Biden HHS Rolls Back Religious Conscience Protections for Doctors\">prevent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ten-gop-senators-counter-bidens-1-9-trillion-relief-plan-request-meeting\/\" title=\"Ten GOP Senators Counter Biden\u2019s .9 Trillion Relief Plan, Request Meeting\">health care providers<\/a><\/a> from being paid to treat veterans even after those health care providers had violated federal policies.<\/p>\n<p>Hayes said the agency would respond to Rubio\u2019s letter directly and that the agency is beefing up review processes for health care providers after the IG report\u2019s results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thoroughly reviewing our criteria and processes to ensure that all ineligible health care providers are identified and excluded from participating in VA\u2019s Community Care Program,\u201d Hayes said. \u201cAnd, we are establishing an appropriate review process for the Veterans Health Administration to ensure that past removals of health care providers were due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-sitting-out-whistleblower-lawsuit-accusing-pfizer-of-cutting-corners-with-covid-vaccine-trial\/\" title=\"DoJ Sitting Out Whistleblower Lawsuit Accusing Pfizer of \u201cCutting Corners\u201d With COVID Vaccine Trial\">patient safety concerns<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rubio called for accountability at the VA and pointed to examples of physicians who should not have been treating veterans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile this is an issue that needs to be addressed nationwide, one specific instance the VA OIG has considered in recent months resulted from a case involving a surgeon who had a medical license revoked in Florida but later would participate as a provider in the VCCP,\u201d the letter said. \u201cThe OIG found that the surgeon voluntarily relinquished a Florida medical license after being investigated by the Florida Department of Health and notified of \u2018a potential termination for cause.\u2019 The OIG stated that Optum was unclear on whether such an instance should be considered as part of the VCCP credentialing process, and OIG stated that the VA\u2019s contracts do not address or define this terminology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hayes also pledged to address the third-party providers who are ineligible to care for veterans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurther, we will make certain that appropriate corrective actions are established for providers who have been identified as ineligible \u2013 including working with our third-party administrators \u2013 to ensure that these ineligible providers are removed from the Community Care Network,\u201d Hayes told The Center Square. \u201cWe will not rest until this issue is fully resolved for the Veterans we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The VA vows to safeguard veterans and tackle issues flagged by federal watchdogs after concerns surfaced about VA physicians in an IG report.
