His remarks were\u200c made during an interview on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;State \u2064of the Union&#8221; with Jake Tapper.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>North Dakota Republican Governor Doug Burgum defended former President Donald Trump on Sunday against the criminal charges he faces from the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Burgum made the remarks during an interview on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union\u201d with host Jake Tapper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a business guy. This is a business filing case,\u201d he said. \u201cIf it was anybody other than a presidential candidate, this would be a misdemeanor. How it got turned into 34 felonies, when there isn\u2019t even the alleged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-ends-negotiations-with-nancy-pelosi-on-coronavirus-relief\/\" title=\"Donald Trump Ends Negotiations with Nancy Pelosi on Coronavirus Relief\">crime<\/a>, which is \u2014 they haven\u2019t even convinced anybody there was a crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if it were, it would be a Federal Election Commission crime. And that would be pursued by the federal courts, not by a county DA in New York,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd so I think, again, Americans, the outcome of this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-debrief-with-david-mark-trial-doesnt-hurt-trump-in-the-polls\/\" title=\"David Mark's Analysis: Trial Doesn't Affect Trump's Poll Numbers\">trial doesn\u2019<\/a>t affect them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that the trial was nothing more than \u201ca spectacle for cable TV, but average Americans have already baked in what they think about President Trump, President Biden, they\u2019re looking at the policies, not at the people, and they were better off under President Trump\u2019s policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burgum said he was looking forward to next January when \u201cVice President Harris certifies the election for Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, the American people are the ones that get to decide these elections,\u201d he said. \u201cBut for both parties and for all Americans, we have got to make sure that every county, every precinct is beyond reproach, that everybody can be confident in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn North Dakota, we\u2019re doing that,\u201d he added. \u201cNobody\u2019s questioning the results of an election in any county or precinct in North Dakota. It can be done.
