Ron DeSantis, and a very public proxy battle for control of the ailing media behemoth (which incumbent CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bob-iger-wins-control-disney-admits-infusing-messaging-shouldnt-priority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bob Iger won<\/a>), Disney has unveiled its first step in trying to set up a more successful 2024 and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>It came in a piece by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/disney-josh-damaro-theme-parks-investment-1235879041\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that focused on Disney Experiences chairman Josh D\u2019Amaro, and D\u2019Amaro\u2019s grand and costly plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe executive is tasked with harnessing that demand into an even bigger growth engine for the company, as he leads Disney\u2019s $60 billion investment in its parks and experiences division over the next 10 years,\u201d THR noted.<\/p>\n<p>The article cited the potential of Disney\u2019s parks and cruise lines, as well as \u201cmore than 1,000 acres of land available for development across the company\u2019s six resorts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With D\u2019Amaro being touted as a strong candidate to succeed Iger, his ability to stretch that $60 billion investment will be under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-jewish-coalition-rips-raphael-warnock-for-hatemongering-and-anti-israel-beliefs\/\" title=\"Republican Jewish Coalition Rips Raphael Warnock for \u2018Hatemongering\u2019 and Anti-Israel Beliefs\">intense scrutiny<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In fairness to D\u2019Amaro, the raw numbers do appear to support the idea that he\u2019s a gleaming hope in an otherwise morose landscape.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cD\u2019Amaro\u2019s division, which also includes consumer products and totals about 180,000 employees, has driven profits for the company each quarter, reaching an all-time revenue record in the first quarter of 2024,\u201d THR reported. \u201cIncome for the segment reached $8.9 billion in 2023, up 23 percent from the previous year, and up from $6.8 billion in 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the report also noted that D\u2019Amaro\u2019s \u201chigh-return-on-investment unit\u201d is being leaned on as Disney+ \u201cpushes for profitability\u201d \u2014 meaning the streaming platform isn\u2019t profitable for the House of Mouse.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Have you been to a Disney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tokyo-olympics-set-to-go-on-regardless-of-covid-19-pandemic\/\" title=\"Tokyo Olympics Set To Go On \u2018Regardless\u2019 Of COVID-19 Pandemic\">theme park<\/a> in the last 10 years?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Given the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ruin-another-classic-disney-changed-x-men-animated-series-new-revival-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">investments<\/a> made into that platform, that\u2019s a concerning sign for Disney, to say the least.<\/p>\n<p>The $60 billion will be split roughly 70\/30, with 70 percent of that budget going towards new rides and experiences at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/disney-closing-60-bricks-and-mortar-stores\/\" title=\"Disney Closing 60 Bricks-And-Mortar Stores\">theme parks<\/a>, and 30 percent earmarked for tech, infrastructure and maintenance, The Hollywood Reported noted.<\/p>\n<p>Improvements and investments are expected across both domestic and international Disney theme parks.<\/p>\n<p>The domestic parks could certainly use some aid.<\/p>\n<p>Disneyland is situated in the inhospitably expensive Anaheim, California, which will be an ongoing issue for the SoCal landmark.<\/p>\n<p>Disney World in Orlando, Florida, however, is facing a much more present issue.<\/p>\n<p>Chief theme park rival Universal Studios unveiled its new \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disney-slowly-realizing-going-top-florida-rival-unveils-monstrous-new-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Epic Universe<\/a>\u201d theme park in February, with more impressive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/top-disney-competitor-just-unveiled-something-house-mouse-terrified\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">details trickling<\/a> out since.<\/p>\n<p>That monstrous new theme park will boast five themed areas that will look to directly challenge the dominance of the Magic Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s all to say nothing about whatever issues Disney is grappling with abroad.<\/p>\n<p>By any measurement, $60 billion is a lot of money, and it looks to be Disney\u2019s first genuine step towards fixing things.<\/p>\n<p>Will it work?
