Santos, who was previously expelled from the \u200cHouse, raised questions about\u2062 whether Cuellar would encounter comparable repercussions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>Disgraced former Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/george-santos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">George Santos<\/a>  (R-NY) needled two Democratic members of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Congress<\/a> on Saturday over a recently unveiled indictment by the Department of Justice against Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/henry-cuellar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Henry Cuellar<\/a> (D-TX).<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Democrat and his wife <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2990105\/henry-cuellar-indicted-doj-charges-texas-bribes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>were indicted<\/a> Friday over allegations that they accepted nearly $600,000 in bribes from two foreign entities, the government of Azerbaijan and a Mexican bank.<\/p>\n<p>They each face 14 charges, including bribery, conspiracy, and money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>Santos used the occasion to go after House members who introduced a resolution in February 2023 to expel him from Congress. Inquiring minds want to know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In March, Torres said he would introduce the \u201cGetting Expelled Officially Revokes Guaranteed Entry\u201d Rule after Santos made a surprise appearance during President Joe Biden\u2019s State of the Union address.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cGEORGE\u201d Rule would prohibit former House members who had been voted out from using their privileges to gain floor access.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/dean-phillips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dean Phillips<\/a> (D-MN) became the first Democrat to publicly call for Cuellar\u2019s ouster Friday evening. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the bar for Federal indictment is high, trust in our government is low,\u201d Phillips wrote on X. \u201cThat\u2019s why office holders and candidates under indictment should resign or end their campaigns, including Sen. Bob Menendez, Donald Trump, &#038; Rep.
