Upper III<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span> \u00a0May 4, 2024 at 8:18am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks took the stand in Manhattan on Friday, and her testimony could be a \u201cnightmare\u201d for her former boss, one legal analyst claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Harry Litman, senior legal affairs columnist for the Los Angeles Times and a former deputy assistant attorney general and U.S. attorney, wrote in a series of posts to X that he considered Hicks to be possibly \u201cdevastating\u201d to former President Donald Trump\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that Litman is a lifelong Democrat and clearly no fan of the former president\u2019s, as some of the wording of his posts made clear. It\u2019s also worth mentioning that Litman has attended portions of Trump\u2019s trial, but was not there in person Friday to watch Hicks\u2019 testimony and instead relied on the reports of others who were present.<\/p>\n<p>Hicks was testifying about her knowledge of the Trump administration and the events surrounding the alleged payment of \u201chush money\u201d to pornographic actress <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/not-a-joke-trump-will-be-convicted-in-hush-money-case-stormy-daniels-disgraced-ex-lawyer-says-from-behind-bars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stormy Daniels<\/a> in return for her agreement to keep her alleged affair with Trump secret.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, 77, has pleaded not guilty to all 34 felony counts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-stunned-amazing-testimony-hush-money-trial-says-breathtaking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">falsifying business records<\/a> with which he has been charged and had denied that the affair ever occurred, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/trump-hope-hicks-trial-hush-money-1897114\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsweek<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Litman said Hicks \u201cmight have been well cast as the final witness\u201d by Manhattan District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alvin-braggs-top-trump-prosecutor-comes-official-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alvin Bragg<\/a>\u2018s prosecution, calling Hicks \u201cloyal\u201d to Trump until becoming disillusioned with him during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-wonders-campus-anti-semitic-rioters-will-get-treatment-jan-6-defendants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jan. 6 incursion<\/a> at the Capitol.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Hicks might have been well cast as the final witness, a totally credible figure who had been loyal to him and then was dismayed even disgusted by 1\/6. She was in the Grand Jury and they know what she\u2019ll say, and it might include some devastating stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Harry Litman (@harrylitman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/harrylitman\/status\/1786419545152029013?\">May 3, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Litman <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/harrylitman\/status\/1786421343086616722\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">argued<\/a> in other <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/harrylitman\/status\/1786422529785270569\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posts<\/a> that Hicks was one of the \u201cvery very few\u201d individuals on either side of the case who didn\u2019t have an obvious reason to provide untruthful testimony and had been close to Trump, making her comments that much more valuable to the prosecution if she had unfavorable things to say about her former boss.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will Hicks&#8217; testimony have an impact on this trial?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The fact that Hicks paid for her own lawyer \u2014 rather than allowing the Trump organization to provide one for her \u2014 only adds to her credibility, Litman <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/harrylitman\/status\/1786426980721938809\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>, which is what makes her a potential \u201cnightmare\u201d for Trump\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUseful to think of witnesses according to what the other side can say about them in closing argument,\u201d he wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn that sense, Hicks is a nightmare for the defense,\u201d he explained. \u201cThey can try to argue around her testimony but will be extremely hard to suggest she\u2019s lying or puffing.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Useful to think of witnesses according to what the other side can say about them in closing argument. Because she seems like a credible witness, that could also damage the jury\u2019s opinion of the former president, he argued.<\/p>\n<p>Karen Friedman Agnifilo, a former Manhattan chief assistant district attorney, made very similar points in an email to Newsweek on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think she is an incredibly powerful witness for the prosecution,\u201d Agnifilo wrote, according to the outlet. \u201c[She\u2019s] a true insider who has no axe to grind, no baggage, no bias.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe jury will believe her,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
