Job growth fell below expectations, with\u2062 the smallest increase in six months. The jobless rate, including discouraged workers and part-time employees\u2063 for economic reasons, climbed to 7.4%, \u200cthe highest since November 2021. Additionally, the unemployment rate rose to 3.9% and wage growth slowed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe jobless rate tied for the highest level since January 2022. A more encompassing rate that includes discouraged workers and those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-list-17-senate-republicans-join-democrats-to-demand-joe-biden-import-more-foreign-workers\/\" title=\"The List: 17 Senate Republicans Join Democrats to Demand Joe Biden Import More Foreign Workers\">holding part-time jobs<\/a> for economic reasons also edged up, to 7.4%, its highest level since November 2021,\u201d CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/05\/03\/jobs-report-april-2024-us-job-growth-totaled-175000-in-april.html\">noted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nonfarm payrolls only rose 175,000 in April; the average monthly\u00a0gain had been 242,000 over the prior year. Bloomberg Economics\u2019 Anna Wong and Stuart Paul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/live-blog\/2024-05-03\/us-employment-report-for-april?srnd=homepage-americas&#038;sref=vuYGislZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">acknowledged<\/a> the numbers were \u201cweaker than expected.\u201d James Knightley, chief international economist at ING, said this was \u201cthe first time we have seen every part of the report come in weaker than expected for a very long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Former President Trump weighed in as the numbers were announced, <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/112377243739839296\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">writing<\/a> on Truth Social, \u201cHORRIBLE JOB NUMBERS JUST ANNOUNCED. A BIG MISS FROM FAKE ESTIMATES. THEY SHOULD HAVE ASKED ME TO GIVE THE FORECAST. BIDEN IS DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY!!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe change in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jobs-report-better-than-expected-still-falls-short-of-biden-promises-on-employment\/\" title=\"Jobs Report Better Than Expected, Still Falls Short Of Biden Promises On Employment\">total nonfarm payroll employment<\/a> for February was revised down by 34,000, from +270,000 to +236,000, and the change for March was revised up by 12,000, from +303,000 to +315,000. With these revisions, employment in February and March combined is 22,000 lower than previously reported,\u201d BLS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/empsit.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The unemployment rate for adult men increased to 3.6% in April, BLS stated. Construction employment rose only 9,000 in April after increasing 40,000 in March.
