Trump&#8217;s\u2063 lead in these states, which he lost in 2020, could pave the way for a potential return to the Oval Office. Despite Trump&#8217;s lead, GOP Senate candidates are \u2064lagging \u2064behind their Democratic opponents in five races, as per the Emerson survey.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/schang\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/schang\/%20\"><span>Samantha Chang<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 3, 2024 at 8:13am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A new poll shows former President Donald Trump edging out President Joe Biden in seven battleground states, setting the stage for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/after-a-surge-in-violent-crime-progressives-win-big-in-pennsylvanias-largest-cities\/\" title=\"After A Surge In Violent Crime, Progressives Win Big In Pennsylvania\u2019s Largest Cities\">potentially close race<\/a> in November\u2019s presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>According to the latest Emerson College Polling\/The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/emersoncollegepolling.com\/trump-holds-edge-over-biden-in-seven-key-swing-state-polls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survey<\/a> released Tuesday, Biden trails his presumptive Republican opponent by 3 points or more in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-fbi-focus-radical-left-morons-right-not-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> lost most of these swing states in 2020, so winning them this year could help him punch his ticket back to the Oval Office.<\/p>\n<p>The Emerson College poll surveyed 1,000 registered voters April 25-29. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percent.<\/p>\n<p>In Arizona, Trump leads <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidenomics-five-cities-rent-continues-explode-impact-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden<\/a> by 4 points, with 48 percent support versus 44 percent, according to the poll.<\/p>\n<p>In Georgia, the Republican is up by 3 points, 47 percent to 44 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The former president has a 1-point lead over the Democrat in Michigan and Nevada, 45 percent to 44 percent.<\/p>\n<p>In North Carolina, Trump leads Biden by 5 points, with 47 percent support to 42 percent.<\/p>\n<p>And in both Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, he is up by 2 points, 47 percent to 45 percent.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">New: Swing State Polls with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thehill?\">@thehill<\/a><\/p>\n<p>AZ: 48% Trump, 44% Biden<br \/> GA: 47% Trump, 44% Biden<br \/> MI: 45% Trump, 44% Biden<br \/> NV: 45% Trump, 44% Biden<br \/> NC: 47% Trump, 42% Biden<br \/> PA: 47% Trump, 45% Biden<br \/> WI: 47% Trump, 45% Biden<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tt6RQ0rGGP\">https:\/\/t.co\/tt6RQ0rGGP<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/c1xsuqa3Po\">pic.twitter.com\/c1xsuqa3Po<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Emerson College Polling (@EmersonPolling) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EmersonPolling\/status\/1785283985825739137?\">April 30, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/republican-registration-swing-state-skyrockets-showing-trump-stands-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">swing state<\/a> polls haven\u2019t changed much during the past six months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state of the presidential election in swing states has remained relatively consistent since Emerson and The Hill started tracking them last November,\u201d Kimball said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe share of undecided voters has reduced and Biden gained ground in Georgia and Nevada, narrowing the gap, while Trump has maintained a slight edge on Biden in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The latest survey also shows independent voters favoring Trump over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/top-biden-doj-official-hot-water-failing-disclose-past-arrest-senate-confirmation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden<\/a> in battleground states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndependent voters break for Trump over Biden in Arizona (48 percent to 38 percent), Michigan (44 percent to 35 percent), Nevada (43 percent to 37 percent), Pennsylvania (49 percent to 33 percent), and North Carolina (41 percent to 38 percent),\u201d Kimball said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, they break for Biden over Trump in Georgia (42 percent to 38 percent) and Wisconsin (44 percent to 41 percent),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While the poll paints an encouraging picture for the former president, the leading GOP Senate candidates are trailing their Democratic counterparts in five races, according to the Emerson survey.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will the GOP win the House and Senate in November?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In Arizona, Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego is up by 2 points against Republican Kari Lake, 45 percent to 43 percent.<\/p>\n<p>In Pennsylvania, 46 percent of voters support incumbent Democratic Sen. Bob Casey, while 42 percent support Republican challenger Dave McCormick.<\/p>\n<p>In the Michigan race to replace the retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow, 42 percent support Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin, while 40 percent support former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers.<\/p>\n<p>In Wisconsin, 46 percent of survey respondents support incumbent Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin, while 43 support Republican Eric Hovde.<\/p>\n<p>In Nevada, incumbent Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen leads Republican Sam Brown by 8 points, 45 percent to 37 percent.<\/p>\n<p>In a hypothetical matchup between Rosen and another Republican challenger \u2014 Jeff Gunter \u2014 Rosen leads by a wider margin, with 47 percent support versus 33 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously, polls are not the end-all-be-all, since they\u2019re temporary snapshots of public sentiment that can and do change over time.<\/p>\n<p>Having said that, the latest survey paints a troubling portrait of Biden\u2019s failed presidency as an administration in shambles.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t surprising, since the United States is being roiled by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidenomics-five-cities-rent-continues-explode-impact-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crippling inflation<\/a>, soaring crime and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mexican-authorities-target-arizona-rancher-accused-shooting-illegal-immigrant-attorney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tucker-still-triggering-geraldo-rivera-even-after-both-of-them-have-departed-fox-news\/\" title=\"Tucker continues to provoke Geraldo even after their Fox News departure.\">daily border invasions<\/a><\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">JUST IN \u2013 Biden\u2019s approval rating average is lower than any other president in recent history at the same time in office \u2014 Gallup <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/sVRmg6AHK4\">pic.twitter.com\/sVRmg6AHK4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Disclose.tv (@disclosetv) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/disclosetv\/status\/1783859745540931751?\">April 26, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Even with Trump being bogged down with sham lawsuits, there\u2019s growing sentiment that things cannot continue as they are with Biden in office.<\/p>\n<p>That said, even if the 45th president secures a second term, he\u2019ll have a hard time accomplishing anything if the GOP loses control of the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, both Trump and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/top-biden-doj-official-hot-water-failing-disclose-past-arrest-senate-confirmation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden<\/a> have their work cut out for them if they want to win re-election come November.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
