Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 3, 2024 at 5:41am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>As pro-Hamas, anti-Israel protesters run roughshod over college campuses from New York to Los Angeles, don\u2019t think that America\u2019s enemies aren\u2019t paying attention.<\/p>\n<p>One in particular seems especially enamored with America\u2019s ill-behaved, oft anti-Semitic well-heeled college youth: Iran.<\/p>\n<p>For the second time in less than a week, a prominent academic at a university in the theocratic state is going viral with a report from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.memri.org\/tv\/tehran-univeristy-prof-foad-izadi-american-campuses-support-iran-hizbullah\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Middle East Media Research Institute<\/a> alleging he went on state TV and called the campus demonstrators \u201cour people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Foad Izadi, a professor at Tehran University, reportedly made the comments April 26 on Iran\u2019s Ofogh TV, saying this should just be the start of a sustained attack against America using \u201cHezbollah-style groups\u201d in the United States to turn it into a version of war-torn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/day-trump-warns-animals-border-news-breaks-hezbollah-member-caught-el-paso-planned-build-bomb-head-ny\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lebanon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSooner or later, this kind of support for the Zionist regime by the American regime will diminish,\u201d Izadi said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/donald-trump-threatened-death-disturbing-new-video-coming-soon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MEMRI<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt might not stop completely, but its diminishing is important. This is why the demonstrations [in U.S. campuses] are important,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat we in the Islamic Republic should do is \u2026We are watching the demonstrations and we like what we see, but it should not end with this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The professor went on to claim that \u201cif not for the Islamic Republic [of Iran], the case of the Palestinian idea would have been closed years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea of resistance belongs to Iran, but on the operational level, when it comes to recruiting connections and building networks, the [Iranian] state has not been involved in sufficient level,\u201d Izadi said, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese [American students] are our people. If tensions between America and Iran rise tomorrow or the day after, these are the peoples who will have to take to the streets to support Iran,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Are these college protests based on anti-American rhetoric?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>And, as for the future, Izadi saw something resembling the strife Iran had sewn in Lebanon through the state-sponsored terror group Hezbollah, also a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-hezbollah-bombards-israeli-positions-disputed-area-along-border-syrias-golan-heights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not-infrequent attacker of Israel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersonally, I think that the potential to repeat in the U.S. what Iran did in Lebanon is much higher,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Hezbollah-style groups in America are much larger than what we have in Lebanon. America is the Great Satan and our enemy, but we have hope in these areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Tehran University Professor Foad Izadi: We Like What We Are Seeing on U.S. College Campuses; These Are Our People, They Will Support Iran in Case of Confrontation with the U.S.; Iran Can Repeat in America What It Did in Lebanon <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/campusProtests?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#campusProtests<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IzadiFoad?\">@IzadiFoad<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5Xkm26C8ye\">pic.twitter.com\/5Xkm26C8ye<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 MEMRI (@MEMRIReports) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MEMRIReports\/status\/1785640803836059786?\">May 1, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, the idea that Iran has Hezbollah-style terror cells within the United States on the scale that could cause the destabilization seen in Lebanon is slightly absurd, but it isn\u2019t the only noise we\u2019re hearing out of Iranian academia in support of the student protests that have ripped through campuses such as Columbia, George Washington University and UCLA.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Iran\u2019s state-run English outlet, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.presstv.ir\/Detail\/2024\/05\/01\/724698\/Iran-Shiraz-University-grant-scholarships-expelled-students-United-States-Europe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PressTV<\/a>, reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/expelled-us-college-pro-hamas-protests-iranian-university-offer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shiraz University<\/a> head Mohammad Moazzeni \u201cexpressed readiness to grant scholarships to the students expelled for pro-Palestine demonstrations in the United States and Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said what is taking place in Gaza reveals the nature of Western civilization and the truthfulness of the message of Iran\u2019s 1979 Islamic Revolution, one of the great causes of which was supporting Palestine,\u201d PressTV reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey exert a lot of violence in order to contain this raging movement and have even threatened to expel the students from universities and hinder their employment in the future, and such autocratic methods show the decline of global arrogance,\u201d Moazzeni said of the \u201charsh treatment\u201d students were facing \u2014 a rather rich comparison considering Iran\u2019s history of violent crackdowns on any student protests against the regime.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Iran\u2019s internationally renowned Shiraz University to grant scholarships to expelled pro-Palestine students in US, Europe<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/3IYdsSMUai\">https:\/\/t.co\/3IYdsSMUai<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Press TV \ud83d\udd3b (@PressTV) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PressTV\/status\/1785604784512221361?\">May 1, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cStudents and even professors who have been expelled or threatened with expulsion can continue their studies at Shiraz University, and I think that other universities in Shiraz as well as Fars Province are also prepared [to provide the conditions],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there is a bit of a cultural disconnect here, as one commenter noted:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A lot of protestors are blue-haired types with lots of pronouns. Will they be welcomed?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Josh Wine (@joshwine1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/joshwine1\/status\/1785606463169159360?\">May 1, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is part of the absurdity of a movement that has seen farcical moments such as a movement calling itself \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/large-queers-palestine-protest-hits-nyc-official-punishment-homosexuality-gaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Queers for Palestine<\/a>\u201d and a video of a drag queen leading children in a \u201cFree Palestine!\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realchrisrufo\/status\/1783530930973585710\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chant<\/a>, among others. Keep in mind that among Palestinians and in a not-insubstantial number of Middle Eastern nations \u2014 especially Iran \u2014 these individuals might get stoned, and not of the legal weed variety.<\/p>\n<p>Whether both sides really are as gullible as to believe the other represents their interests, or whether both are cynical enough to use the other to get what they want \u2014 or some combination of both \u2014 is anybody\u2019s guess.<\/p>\n<p>I highly doubt our purple-haired \u201cxhe\/xir\u201d pronouns-in-bio types will be attending Shiraz University or taking up residence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/israel-may-end-war-gaza-new-deal-even-hamas-isnt-defeated-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in Rafah<\/a> to find out, nor do I think either side is serious about inviting these agitators onto their soil and into their institutions.<\/p>\n<p>However, if they are sincere, by all means, let\u2019s have a summit between the spoilt Columbia protesters, the queers and drag queens for Hamas, and the Iranian clerisy and academic elite.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranians would learn the exact nature of those \u201cHezbollah-style groups\u201d on college campuses, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/french-schoolgirl-admits-lying-about-teacher-who-was-murdered-for-showing-class-muhammed-cartoons\/\" title=\"French Schoolgirl Admits Lying About Teacher Who Was Murdered For Showing Class Muhammed Cartoons\">student protesters<\/a> would learn that they\u2019re being used by America\u2019s enemies, or \u2014 fingers crossed \u2014 both.<\/p>\n<p>Until then, however, this should serve as a wake-up call to all the soi-disant revolutionaries who believe they\u2019re anything more than pawns in a brutal Middle Eastern power struggle, and they\u2019re being played by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/iranian-official-warns-us-wont-spared-fire-un-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the side of evil<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
