The legal actions highlight concerns about \u200danti-Semitic behavior and glorification of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lawmakers-consider-enacting-statute-to-increase-punishments-for-domestic-terrorism\/\" title=\"Lawmakers consider enacting statute to increase punishments for domestic terrorism\">terrorist organizations<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Two lawsuits have been filed against Northwestern University following the school\u2019s agreement with anti-Israel protesters that it would fund scholarships and teaching positions to Palestinians.<\/p>\n<p>Each lawsuit was filed Wednesday, just two days after the university <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/northwestern-university-caves-to-anti-israel-protesters-granting-numerous-demands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">caved<\/a> to protesters who had been occupying the school\u2019s Deering Meadow. One lawsuit was filed by students while the other was filed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-kristi-noem-appeals-south-dakota-abortion-ruling-following-supreme-court-case\/\" title=\"Gov. Kristi Noem Appeals South Dakota Abortion Ruling Following Supreme Court Case\">conservative legal organization<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first lawsuit, filed by three Northwestern students, accuses the university of enabling the harassment of Jewish students by allowing the anti-Israel tent encampment to remain on campus for several days, CBS News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/chicago\/news\/lawsuit-northwestern-university-harassment-pro-palestinian-encampment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. The three suing students \u2013 identified in the lawsuit only as Jane Joe, John Doe 1, and John Doe 2 \u2013 claim they experienced anti-Semitic harassment during the six days the encampment was in place.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit claims that protesters could be seen \u201copenly glorifying\u201d Hamas, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-trump-sends-message-to-democrats-and-rino-republicans-thousands-pouring-into-dc-wont-stand-for-stolen-election\/\" title=\"President Trump Sends Message to Democrats and RINO Republicans: \u2018Thousands Pouring Into DC Won\u2019t Stand for Stolen Election\u2019\">terrorist organization<\/a> that is the de facto government in the Gaza Strip. They said one protester \u201cbarked at passersby demanding they state whether they speak Hebrew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A photo included in the lawsuit showed a protest sign depicting Northwestern\u2019s Jewish president Michael Schill as a \u201cbloodthirsty devil.\u201d The photo also shows other protest signs placed on a fence, one of which says \u201cfrom the river to the sea,\u201d a phrase typically seen as a rallying cry to destroy Israel. The students who filed the lawsuit called the phrase \u201ca genocidal slogan that calls for the elimination of the State of Israel (and, with it, the cleansing or subjugation of its millions of Jewish inhabitants).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/will-law.org\/will-files-federal-discrimination-complaint-against-university-in-the-wake-of-nationwide-pro-hamas-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second lawsuit<\/a>, filed by the Wisconsin Institute for Law &#038; Liberty (WILL), argues that Northwestern\u2019s agreement to provide nearly \u201c$1.9 million in scholarship funds, faculty positions, and student-organization space to Palestinian students and staff\u201d violates Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination \u201con the grounds of race, color, or national origin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Because Northwestern receives federal funds, it is subject to Title VI and therefore cannot discriminate against students for their race. In the school\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northwestern.edu\/leadership-notes\/2024\/agreement-on-deering-meadow.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">agreement<\/a> with protesters, Northwestern agreed to provide five <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nyc-mayor-bill-de-blasio-is-contemplating-a-lottery-for-new-yorkers-who-get-vaccinated\/\" title=\"NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio Is Contemplating A Lottery For New Yorkers Who Get Vaccinated\">full-ride scholarships<\/a> for Palestinian students and fund two Palestinian faculty members for two years.
