Despite\u200c this, he clarified that it doesn&#8217;t prevent him from testifying\u2062 in the case. The order aims to limit\u200b his public remarks involving pertinent \u200btrial participants. Former President Donald Trump\u2064 has committed to challenging \u2063the &#8220;unconstitutional&#8221; gag order in his New York\u200b trial. He intends\u200d to\u200b submit a\u200d &#8220;constitutional motion&#8221; opposing \u200dthe order. (Elizabeth Williams via AP)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe order restricting extrajudicial statements does not prevent you from testifying in any way,\u201d Merchan said, adding that the order does not in any way limit what Trump says on the witness stand.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also not clear whether Trump intends to sue Merchan over the gag order or whether he plans to file a motion within the criminal case as a means to challenge the gag order, though the nature of the challenge may become more evident as the day progresses.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Merchan has yet to rule on the\u00a0latest gag order violations\u00a0that prosecutors brought against Trump.
