Kemp emphasized\u200c the importance of the\u2063 legislation \u200bfollowing the tragic death of Laken Riley at the hands of\u2063 an undocumented immigrant named Jose Ibarra.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Georgia\u2019s Republican Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/brian-kemp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brian Kemp<\/a> signed a law that will require jails to check the immigration status of inmates and collaborate with federal immigration officials.<\/p>\n<p>The law, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/latino\/georgia-governor-signs-immigration-bill-months-uga-slaying-worrying-la-rcna150301\">HB1105<\/a>, would threaten to strip funding from sheriff\u2019s offices that refuse to work with federal immigration officials when they have individuals in their custody who appear to be in the country illegally.<\/p>\n<p>Kemp said that the legislation \u201cbecame one of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/another-wave-of-portland-police-quit-amid-massive-spike-in-shootings-and-stabbings-fire-dept-responding-to-10-homeless-tent-fires-a-day\/\" title=\"Another Wave Of Portland Police Quit Amid Massive Spike In Shootings And Stabbings; Fire Dept. Responding To 10+ Homeless Tent Fires A Day\">top priorities<\/a> following the senseless death of Laken Riley at the hands of someone in this country illegally who had already been arrested even after crossing the border.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you enter our country illegally and proceed to commit further crime in our communities, we will not allow your crimes to go unanswered,\u201d the Republican Governor went on to add.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-happening-president-trump-issues-warning-swing-states-that-found-massive-voter-fraud-which-is-all-of-them-cannot-legally-certify-these-votes\/\" title=\"IT\u2019S HAPPENING: President Trump Issues Warning \u2013 Swing States that Found MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD, which is all of them, CANNOT LEGALLY CERTIFY these votes\">illegal immigrant<\/a> from Venezuela named Jose Ibarra was charged in the murder of 22 year-old Laken Riley after she was found dead in a wooded area near the University of Georgia in Athens. An autopsy found that Riley had died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, with the investigation also finding that Ibarra had dragged her body to a secluded location in an attempt to conceal his alleged crime. Ibarra\u2019s charges included malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another.<\/p>\n<p>Ibarra had previously been arrested in New York in 2022 and was charged with acting in a manner to injure a child younger than 17.<\/p>\n<p>The new Georgia law comes amid an unprecedented crisis on the southern border, with immigration officials recording over 9.5 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/nationwide-encounters\">nationwide encounters<\/a> and 1.7 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-admin-may-have-lost-track-millions-of-migrants-crossing-southern-border-congressional-report\">estimated illegal immigrant gotaways<\/a> since Joe Biden took office.
