This legislation involved changing the certification deadline from\u200b 82 to \u206274 days\u2064 before the election,\u200c enabling the Democratic National Committee to officially certify Biden\u200c as their nominee. The unanimous support of all 93 representatives underscored the\u200d importance of this decision.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>GOP<\/a>-led Alabama House of Representatives passed legislation ensuring President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> will appear on the state\u2019s ballot for the November <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>election<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>All 93 representatives voted to change the state\u2019s certification deadline from 82 days before the general election to 74 days, thus allowing the Democratic National Committee time to certify Biden as the nominee before their convention, which takes place Aug. 19-22. The legislation will be sent to Gov. Kay Ivey (R-AL) for her signature, which spokeswoman Gina Maiola\u00a0said the governor will sign. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great day in Alabama when in a bipartisan manner, we passed this legislation to ensure that President Joe Biden gains access to the ballot in Alabama,\u201d Democratic state Sen. Former Republican Secretary of State John Merrill had accepted a provisional certification from the national GOP anticipating former President Donald Trump as the nominee. The Biden campaign has asked for a provisional agreement; however, Allen insists that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-rules-ca-gov-overstepped-his-authority-with-covid-order-issues-permanent-injunction-restraining-newsom-from-further-issuing-unconstitutional-orders\/\" title=\"Judge Rules CA Gov Overstepped His Authority with Covid Order, Issues Permanent Injunction Restraining Newsom From Further Issuing Unconstitutional Orders\">state law<\/a> does not allow for a provisional certification. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign is facing the same issue in Ohio, but lawmakers there are not expected to make exceptions. Ohio\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/state-gop-sets-date-for-first-southern-2024-presidential-primary\/\" title=\"Southern 2024 Presidential Primary Date Set by State GOP\">law requires parties<\/a> to submit their nominees 90 days before the general election, setting this year\u2019s deadline to Aug. 7.
