Republican Senator Mike Lee and other voices urged her to resign from her position.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/%20\"><span>Johnathan Jones<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 2, 2024 at 10:22am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A top Biden administration Justice Department official was not truthful during her Senate confirmation process in 2021 when she said she had never been arrested for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gofundme-allows-fundraiser-for-left-wing-activist-accused-of-shooting-cop-has-shut-down-right-leaning-fundraisers-in-past\/\" title=\"GoFundMe Allows Fundraiser For Left-Wing Activist Accused Of Shooting Cop, Has Shut Down Right-Leaning Fundraisers In Past\">alleged violent crime<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jim-jordan-flabbergasted-top-doj-official-admits-clueless-key-case-dont-know-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kristen Clarke<\/a> has served in her position since May 2021.<\/p>\n<p>However, according to news reports, she had an arrest record that was not disclosed when she was narrowly confirmed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-trump-backs-senate-candidate-said-not-maga-key-swing-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Senate<\/a>, which led to calls for her resignation.<\/p>\n<p>Clarke\u2019s past became an issue earlier this week when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2024\/05\/01\/dojs-kristen-clarke-confirms-she-did-not-disclose-arrest-alleges-domestic-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Signal<\/a> reported Tuesday she had previously been arrested and accused of slicing her former husband\u2019s finger to the bone with a knife.<\/p>\n<p>The Signal unearthed a text message exchange involving Clark\u2019s former husband, who was candid about the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was seeing another woman,\u201d Reginald Avery texted in a May 2021 exchange with Tom Jones of the American Accountability Foundation, which shared it <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ExposingBiden\/status\/1785692814250303700?%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1785692814250303700%7Ctwgr%5E23b14744c6437eb53c43ad28f5a554fb3e029f24%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.westernjournal.com%2F%3Fp%3D3661837\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a post<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-new-acting-attorney-general-jeff-rosen-recently-wrote-an-essay-on-foreign-influence-in-us-elections-this-tells-us-a-little-about-his-knowledge-of-whats-going-on-today\/\" title=\"The New Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen Recently Wrote an Essay on Foreign Influence in US Elections \u2013 This Tells Us A Little About His Knowledge of What\u2019s Going On Today\">social media platform<\/a> X. (Warning: The text exchange contains language that some may find offensive.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was angry,\u201d Avery added of the 2006 incident at their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dems-worried-marylands-senate-seat-flip-red-real-soon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryland<\/a> home that led to his then-wife\u2019s arrest, the Signal reported. \u201cAttacked me with a knife. I instinctively grabbed it. As I said earlier, I\u2019m not blameless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the story,\u201d he concluded. \u201cThat\u2019s what happened. She went to jail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After reading the reporting, Republican Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/days-calling-abolish-tsa-sen-mike-lee-pulled-aside-going-airport-security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mike Lee<\/a> of Utah was among scores of people who called on Clarke to resign for not disclosing the arrest.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Kristen Clarke is in charge of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-justice-department-pick-opposed-enforcing-civil-rights-laws-against-blacks\/\" title=\"Biden Justice Department Pick Opposed Enforcing Civil Rights Laws Against Blacks\">enforcing civil rights laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She enforces those laws aggressively against anyone who sneezes near an abortion clinic.<\/p>\n<p>And not at all against those who vandalize churches.<\/p>\n<p>She lied under oath during her confirmation proceedings, and should resign. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5tHpaG4a2W\">https:\/\/t.co\/5tHpaG4a2W<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mike Lee (@BasedMikeLee) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BasedMikeLee\/status\/1785492308923654232?\">May 1, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">She lied under oath to mask her arrest for committing a violent crime, yet she zealously prosecutes peaceful pro-life protesters.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mike Lee (@BasedMikeLee) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BasedMikeLee\/status\/1785492442977911185?\">May 1, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Clarke acknowledged Wednesday that she was not truthful about being arrested during her marriage and said she had been a victim of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/reality-star-marriage-show-arrested-domestic-violence-charge-previous-incident-caught-tlc-cameras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">domestic violence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNearly 2 decades ago, I was subjected to years-long abuse and domestic violence at the hands of my ex-husband,\u201d Clarke said in a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/05\/01\/politics\/kristen-clarke-justice-department-domestic-violence\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Clarke added:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a terrorizing and traumatizing period that I have sought to put behind me to promote my personal health, healing and well-being. The physical and emotional scars, the emotional abuse and exploitation, and the lying are things that no woman or mother should ever have to endure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark concluded that because of an expungement of her record, she did not feel it was necessary to reveal the incident when she was up for a top job at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/doj-refuses-comply-congressional-subpoena-hand-biden-audio-despite-threat-contempt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the DOJ<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should Kristen Clarke resign?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhen given the option to speak about such traumatic incidents in my life, I have chosen not to,\u201d she said. \u201cI didn\u2019t believe during my confirmation process and I don\u2019t believe now that I was obligated to share a fully expunged matter from my past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Clarke was nominated for her current role, she filled out a questionnaire from Lee in which she was asked numerous questions about her past.<\/p>\n<p>One question read, \u201cSince becoming a legal adult, have you ever been arrested for or accused of committing a violent crime against any person?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the form, which is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/Kristen%20Clarke%20Responses%20for%20the%20Record.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Senate Judiciary Committee website<\/a>, Clarke answered, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clarke celebrated in a DOJ statement in January when six <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/americans-remember-the-48th-annual-march-for-life\/\" title=\"Americans remember the 48th annual March for Life\">pro-life activists<\/a> were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-america-praying-pro-lifers-may-face-prison-time-pro-abortion-fire-bomber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">convicted<\/a> of felonies when they peacefully blockaded the entrance to a Tennesse abortion clinic while singing hymns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese defendants are being held accountable for unlawfully obstructing access to reproductive health services,\u201d Clarke said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/six-defendants-convicted-federal-civil-rights-conspiracy-and-freedom-access-clinic-entrances\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a statement<\/a> when it was announced the defendants would each face up to a decade behind bars.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
