Dean&#8217;s disclosures on manufacturing \u200bflaws in Boeing&#8217;s 737 MAX resulted in his dismissal by Spirit \u2063AeroSystems.\u2064 This \u200bevent has initiated conversations on the \u2064crucial role of \u2063whistleblowers in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/faa-investigating-minor-collision-of-two-planes-at-chicago-airport\/\" title=\"FAA probes small plane collision at Chicago airport\">ensuring aviation safety<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 2, 2024 at 7:55am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A whistleblower for a Boeing supplier died Tuesday at the age of 45 after being diagnosed with pneumonia and then MRSA, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/business\/whistleblower-josh-dean-of-boeing-supplier-spirit-aerosystems-has-died\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Seattle Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua Dean, who had been a quality auditor at Spirit AeroSystem, had claimed manufacturing defects on Boeing\u2019s 737 MAX were being ignored, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Wichita, Kansas, man became ill about two weeks ago, according to his aunt, Carol Parsons.<\/p>\n<p>A Facebook post from his mother said he also suffered a stroke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was brutal what he went through,\u201d Parsons said. \u201cHeartbreaking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a complaint to the Federal Aviation Administration, Dean described \u201cserious and gross misconduct by senior quality management of the 737 production line\u201d at Spirit, according to the Times.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/another-boeing-whistleblower-steps-forward-alleges-construction-flaw-cause-midair-disaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spirit<\/a> fired him in April 2023. He then filed a complaint with the Department of Labor saying he was fired in retaliation for his stand.<\/p>\n<p>Dean was represented by a law firm in South Carolina that also represented Boeing whistleblower John Barnett, who was found dead in March. Barnett\u2019s death was ruled a suicide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts are with Josh Dean\u2019s family,\u201d Spirit representative Joe Buccino said. \u201cThis sudden loss is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/red-wave-republican-elected-city-attorney-in-deep-blue-seattle\/\" title=\"RED WAVE: Republican Elected City Attorney In Deep Blue Seattle\">stunning news<\/a> here and for his loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you trust Boeing planes enough to fly on one?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brian Knowles, a lawyer who represented Dean, said he would not speculate on the deaths of two whistleblowers coming weeks apart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhistleblowers are needed. They bring to light wrongdoing and corruption in the interests of society. It takes a lot of courage to stand up,\u201d Knowles said, according to the Times. \u201cIt\u2019s a difficult set of circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts now are with John\u2019s family and Josh\u2019s family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, Dean said mechanics were improperly drilling holes in the aft pressure bulkhead of the 737 MAX. He said nothing was done.<\/p>\n<p>Dean was fired after another defect was found in fittings attaching the rear tail fin to the MAX\u2019s fuselage, according to the Times. Dead did not report that flaw.<\/p>\n<p>Spirit later announced the issue with bulkheads that he had flagged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter I was fired, Spirit AeroSystems [initially] did nothing to inform the FAA, and the public\u201d about the issue, Dean said in a complaint.<\/p>\n<p>An FAA letter to him later said, \u201cThe investigation determined that your allegations were appropriately addressed under an FAA-approved safety program. However, due to the privacy provisions of those programs, specific details cannot be released.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 737 MAX is not the only aircraft Boeing makes that has been the subject of concern.<\/p>\n<p>Boeing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-boeing-whistleblower-says-787-planes-drop-ground-midflight-production-halted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">whistleblower<\/a> Sam Salehpour told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/whistleblower-outlines-safety-concern-boeing-787-dreamliner-rcna148063\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> that the company\u2019s 787 Dreamliners could eventually \u201cdrop to the ground\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pilot-suffers-deadly-medical-emergency-midair-forcing-passenger-step\/\">midair<\/a> if the production issues he raised were not addressed.<\/p>\n<p>Salehpour was asked if he would board one of the jets with his family, and he replied, \u201cRight now, I would not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ignored-told-not-create-delays-frankly-shut-boeing-whistleblowers-shocking-testimony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has said<\/a> Boeing did not heed his concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was ignored. I was told not to create delays.
