This skepticism, fueled by past media \u200dcontroversies, mirrors a trend of decreasing media\u200d confidence since the 1970s, with recent events further <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-attorney-wants-to-join-loudoun-school-board-running-an-anti-parent-openly-partisan-and-possibly-illegal-campaign\/\" title=\"DOJ Attorney Seeks Loudoun School Board Seat, Running Controversial Campaign\">eroding \u200cpublic trust<\/a>. The survey highlights \u200ca significant drop in trust among\u200b Americans towards media accuracy, especially concerning misinformation and biased election reporting. This skepticism, influenced \u200dby previous media scandals, reflects\u2064 a long-standing trend \u200cof\u200d diminishing confidence in the media \u2063since the\u2063 1970s, exacerbated by recent\u200b occurrences that continue to diminish public trust.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Overwhelming majorities of Americans have lost their trust in the media to accurately report the news, according to a new <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/news-organizations-trust-poll-misinformation-18235eaef4fdfbdc9c1f7e8693744b21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poll<\/a> out Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>In a survey from the American Press Institute and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, a whopping 83 percent of respondents said they were concerned the media would \u201creport inaccurate information or disinformation\u201d in their 2024 election coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Eighty-one percent said they are worried the media will report unverified information, and 77 percent said they feared the media would stick to the facts \u2014 but be dishonest in their framing, only covering things favorable to their preferred candidates or detrimental to their opponents. <\/p>\n<p>Pollsters found that 72 percent are worried media will rely on artificial intelligence to generate stories. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/covid-tyrants-told-women-its-just-your-period-honey-millions-of-jabs-later-they-admit-it-wasnt\/\" title=\"Covid Tyrants Told Women \u2018It\u2019s Just Your Period, Honey.\u2019 Millions Of Jabs Later, They Admit It Wasn\u2019t\">corporate media ran<\/a> the Russia collusion lie, the Kavanaugh rape smear, COVID disinformation, transgender propaganda, and various other dangerous and damaging info ops, 83% (!) of Americans report they do not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ron-desantis-corporate-media-are-just-smear-merchants-trafficking-in-horse-manure\/\" title=\"Ron DeSantis: \u2018Corporate Media\u2019 Are Just \u2018Smear Merchants\u2019 Trafficking In \u2018Horse Manure\u2019\">trust corporate media<\/a> to report facts.  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/BpOlfKelz1\">https:\/\/t.co\/BpOlfKelz1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mollie (@MZHemingway) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MZHemingway\/status\/1785756877751525632?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 1, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The survey results corroborate the findings of another poll <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/20\/poll-more-americans-than-ever-have-zero-trust-in-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">released<\/a> by Gallup last fall, which revealed American trust in the media at a new low. According to Gallup, 39 percent of Americans rated their level of confidence in mass media at \u201cnone at all,\u201d marking an all-time high since 1972 when the pollster first asked the question. Twenty-nine percent said they had \u201cnot very much trust\u201d in media, and only about 3 in 10 reported any confidence.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Trust in the media peaked in the 1970s and has suffered a rapid decline since 2018 when, in the middle of the Trump administration, the corporate press executed a character assassination of Brett Kavanaugh, then a Supreme Court nominee. The federal judge was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2018\/09\/24\/the-smear-campaign-against-brett-kavanaugh-is-truly-evil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">smeared<\/a> as a gang rapist while President Trump was <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/18\/spygate-101-a-primer-on-the-russia-collusion-hoaxs-years-long-plot-to-take-down-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accused<\/a> of serving as an undercover Kremlin agent in the White House. <\/p>\n<p>During the 2020 presidential election, the corporate media dismissed Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop and its blockbuster revelations about Democrat Joe Biden\u2019s intimate involvement in his son\u2019s overseas business ventures. National Public Radio <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/10\/22\/npr-says-they-wont-cover-the-hunter-biden-story-because-russia-and-it-doesnt-amount-to-much\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote off<\/a> the scandal as a \u201cwaste\u201d of \u201ctime,\u201d while other outlets such as Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/f\/?id=00000175-4393-d7aa-af77-579f9b330000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a> allegations from former intelligence officials, who tried to discredit the laptop as Russian disinformation. Politico waited until nearly a year after the election to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/09\/25\/politico-scoop-on-biden-laptop-proves-the-dangers-of-disinformation-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">verify<\/a> the infamous laptop as authentic. <\/p>\n<p>As the AP-NORC poll out Thursday and many other polls show, this type of perpetual dishonesty from the media has demolished voters\u2019 confidence.
