Kennedy Jr.<\/a> has for months ignored complaints that he will simply play spoiler to a presidential rematch between President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> and former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy, who is running as an independent after a short run in the Democratic primary, even accused Biden of handing the race to Trump by refusing to bow out. He held a highly publicized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-whitmer-media-caught-in-another-lie-anarchist-arrested-for-plot-to-kidnap-and-kill-whitmer-hates-president-trump-trump-is-a-tyrant-video\/\" title=\"Gov. Whitmer, Media Caught in Another Lie - Anarchist Arrested For Plot to Kidnap and Kill Whitmer Hates President Trump, 'Trump is a Tyrant' (VIDEO)\">press conference<\/a> on Wednesday where he urged the president to sign a \u201cno spoiler pledge\u201d in which the \u201cweakest\u201d candidate promises to drop out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUltimately, I think what we all want in this election is that Americans not have to feel like they have to vote out of fear, that they feel they can vote out of hope,\u201d\u00a0Kennedy\u00a0told a crowd in New York. \u201cThat is only going to happen if there is a two-way race between me and President Trump or me and President Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jill-biden-reportedly-lashed-out-at-biden-aides-after-disastrous-2022-press-conference-why-didnt-anyone-stop-that\/\" title=\"Jill Biden upset with aides after 2022 press conference: 'Why no intervention\">press conference reflected<\/a> an attempt by Kennedy, who polls in the double digits but lags far behind Biden, to flip the narrative against him on its head. But the response by the Biden and Trump camps reflects the growing worry that despite being a long-shot candidate, he will swing the election in an unpredictable way. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/dnc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democratic National Committee<\/a> attempted to tie Kennedy to \u201cMAGA Republicans\u201d following the press conference, while the Trump camp released its latest round of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arizona-legislature-introduces-first-in-nation-resolution-to-protect-against-democrat-court-packing\/\" title=\"Arizona Legislature Introduces First-In-Nation Resolution To Protect Against Democrat 'Court Packing'\">opposition research<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Polling does not necessarily provide a clear picture of the electoral dynamic. A <a href=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/poll-release?releaseid=3896\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Quinnipiac University Poll<\/a> published this week found, for example, that Biden and Trump had 37% support apiece, with Kennedy pulling 16% of the hypothetical vote.<\/p>\n<p>The survey appeared to show Kennedy siphoning more votes away from Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwenty-nine percent of people who said they would vote for\u00a0Kennedy\u00a0when given the choice, had earlier said they would vote for Biden,\u201d Mark Bouchard, the Quinnipiac University Poll\u2019s associate director of survey operations, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cForty-seven percent of people who said they would vote for\u00a0Kennedy\u00a0when given the choice, had earlier said they would vote for Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy\u2019s impact on Trump, however, was counteracted by the effect of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/green-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Green Party<\/a> candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jill-stein\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Jill Stein<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/cornel-west\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Cornel West<\/a>, another high-profile independent, on Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats are not willing to take any chances and adopted an assertive posture toward Kennedy after he announced last October that he was no longer running as a Democrat and his outside group, American Values 2024, bought an ad during this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/super-bowl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Super Bowl<\/a> for $7 million.<\/p>\n<p>The DNC, operating as part of the Biden campaign, for instance, stood up a dedicated team responsible for responding to Kennedy and other third-party candidates, both rhetorically and legally. It even released an NFT last month to undercut Kennedy\u2019s keynote address at ETHDenver, a Web3 innovation confab.<\/p>\n<p>Biden and his aides have also recruited Kennedy\u2019s family, with 15 members, including six of his 11 siblings, endorsing the president in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pennsylvania\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Pennsylvania<\/a> in April after more attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>White House<\/a>\u2018s St. Patrick\u2019s Day celebrations in March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden understands the threat and so will work to remind voters of Kennedy\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/vaccination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>anti-vaxxing<\/a> statements, which are more likely to resonate with conservative voters,\u201d Brookings Institution\u2019s Darrell West, author of the book <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/patrick-kennedy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Patrick\u00a0Kennedy<\/a>: The Rise to Power<\/em>, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cIf they are successful, Kennedy could pull as many voters from Trump as Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the last month, the DNC and outside groups, such as American Bridge 21st Century, have capitalized on a lack of clarity regarding Kennedy\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>abortion<\/a> position, in addition to his comments about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/january-6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Jan. 6<\/a> and democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRFK Jr. was recruited to run by <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/maga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>MAGA<\/a> Republicans, his candidacy is being propped up by Trump\u2019s largest donor, and a campaign staffer recently admitted that the campaign\u2019s top goal is stopping President Biden,\u201d DNC spokesman Matthew Corridoni told reporters after Wednesday\u2019s press conference. \u201cWith \u2018friends\u2019 like these being there for him, it\u2019s no wonder that RFK Jr. has said he would sign a national abortion ban and would consider pardoning Jan. 6 insurrectionists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe American people deserve to know the truth \u2014 RFK Jr. is a spoiler for Donald Trump,\u201d Corridoni said.<\/p>\n<p>Third Way spokeswoman Kate deGruyter, whose liberal-leaning organization had been concentrating on countering the No Labels campaign before it imploded last month, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that Democrats are concerned about Kennedy and other third-party candidates because \u201cit takes a very small segment of the electorate in the right places to tilt the race to Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt remains to be seen whether he can get on the ballot in the places that will decide the election,\u201d deGruyter said of Kennedy. \u201cIf a lot of those voters are located in Maricopa County, that makes a much bigger difference than if they\u2019re located in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/utah\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Utah<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/california\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>California<\/a>,\u201d she added of the critical county in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/arizona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Arizona<\/a> that is anchored by Phoenix.<\/p>\n<p>To that end, the Kennedy campaign confirmed this week that he would be on California\u2019s ballot after he was nominated by the\u00a0American Independent Party of California, as well as that of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/michigan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Michigan<\/a> and Utah. Kennedy\u2019s team also claims to have the number of petition signatures needed for seven other states\u2019 ballots: Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nebraska\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Nebraska<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nevada\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Nevada<\/a>, New Hampshire, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/north-carolina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>North Carolina<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the battleground state of Michigan, Kennedy averages 8.6% support to Trump\u2019s 41%, Biden\u2019s 40.8%, Stein\u2019s 1.8%, and West\u2019s 1.3%, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/michigan\/trump-vs-biden-vs-kennedy-vs-west-vs-stein\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><em>RealClearPolitics<\/em><\/a>\u2018 polling aggregation. Without third-party candidates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/michigan\/trump-vs-biden\">Trump has 46% of the vote to Biden\u2019s 44.8%<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trump and his Republican allies have only recently become harder on Kennedy, but with less coordination than Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend, Trump described Kennedy as being \u201cfar more LIBERAL than anyone running as a Democrat,\u201d acknowledging Kennedy as an issue for his campaign and complementing the <a
