Emmanuel<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 1, 2024 at 3:44pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump may be increasing his lead over President Joe Biden with each passing poll, but that does not mean he takes a single voter for granted.<\/p>\n<p>In an unprecedented move for any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/corrupt-media-have-created-a-hilarious-problem-for-themselves-in-time-for-trumps-2024-campaign\/\" title=\"Corrupt Media Have Created A Hilarious Problem For Themselves In Time For Trump\u2019s 2024 Campaign\">major party presidential candidate<\/a>, much less the Republican party\u2019s prospective nominee, Trump has accepted an invitation to speak at the 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/libertarian-mocked-won-office-gutted-government-now-even-critics-cant-deny-happening\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Libertarian<\/a> National Convention.<\/p>\n<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-trends-trump-steps-president-wont\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> was also invited but is, so far, not expected to attend, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4636581-trump-address-libertarian-party-convention\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Libertarian Party posted the announcement on its <a href=\"https:\/\/lnc2024.com\/president-donald-trump-at-the-libertarian-national-convention\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>, hailing Trump\u2019s acceptance as a \u201chistoric\u201d and \u201cmomentous\u201d occasion and suggesting they feel privileged to have him address their event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoin us for a historic moment at the 2024 Libertarian National Convention as we welcome former President Donald J. Trump to the podium,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThis momentous occasion will mark the first time a former President directly addresses our members, candidates, and executive committee. Don\u2019t miss this opportunity to hear insights from a prominent figure in American politics and watch him engage with Libertarian ideals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, they also leveraged the situation to solicit funds from supporters wanting\u00a0to have\u00a0a voice, writing, \u201cBe sure to register for the convention and cast your vote on the topics President Trump will address during his time at the podium. If you aren\u2019t able to make it to convention, no problem! You can still register to vote in this poll by paying the $10 entry fee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an X post, the party wrote, \u201cThe Libertarian National Party, the Party of Principle, announced today that President Donald J. Trump has responded to an invitation, and challenge, from the Libertarian Party to speak at its National Convention, and directly address concerns voiced by its members. President Trump will speak on Saturday, May 25th, in Washington, D.C.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Libertarian Party will share a list of their top ten issues with President Trump in advance of the convention, hoping to make an impact on the policy positions of a past and possibly future president.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Was this a smart move for Trump?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Angela McArdle said, \u201cFor 50 years, we\u2019ve been trying to get our candidates on the main stage with major party <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/democratic-contingency-plan-run-michelle-obama-potus-just-might-agree\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">POTUS<\/a> candidates and we\u2019ve finally succeeded in bringing one to our stage. If Libertarians join me and the Republican Party, where we have many Libertarian views, the election won\u2019t even be close. We cannot have another four years of death, destruction, and incompetence. WE WILL WORK TOGETHER AND WIN!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The party\u2019s 2024 convention theme, \u201cBecome Ungovernable,\u201d directly responds to what it perceives as \u201cunconscionable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/vs-u-s-study-exposes-profound-threat-authoritarian-elites-pose-ordinary-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">authoritarian<\/a> actions\u201d by federal and state governments during recent years, \u201cwhich saw citizens confined, indoctrinated, lied to, and inoculated against their will,\u201d the post said.<\/p>\n<p>While the Libertarian Party presidential candidates have historically won only low single-digit percentages of the vote, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/672194-donald-trump-plans-speech-to-libertarian-national-convention\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida Politics<\/a>, these votes could still bear much weight in swing states where the margins are thin.<\/p>\n<p>Spike Cohen, the 2020 Libertarian vice presidential candidate, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/libertarian-party-golden-opportunity-race-potential-2024-breakthrough-1825386\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsweek <\/a>in September, \u201cLibertarians intend to \u2018take\u2019 so many votes from the RepubliCrats that neither of their candidates can win, and we win instead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The party casts itself as the only consistent voice for bedrock libertarian values that it believes the two major parties have abandoned under the administrations of both parties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe enemy of my enemy is my friend,\u201d the old saying goes.<\/p>\n<p>Although Libertarians and Republicans have some major differences, they share several core values, including a deep distaste for excessive spending, taxation, regulation, and overseas military overreach.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its war talk, the Libertarian party cannot\u00a0be deluded\u00a0enough to think that they have a chance of\u00a0actually\u00a0winning, considering that they do not even have an established candidate\u00a0at this point.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I truly admire trump\u2019s ability and willingness to talk to people. Remember, you arent pitching Trump, you are pitching HIS BASE<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Pardon The Facts (@CantGetRit3) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CantGetRit3\/status\/1785733290517016956?\">May 1, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With the economy and two overseas wars in full focus this season \u2014 and the striking difference in both these areas between President Joe Biden\u2019s stance on this issue compared to his \u2014 it\u2019s a case that Trump apparently feels he can make, at least to some.<\/p>\n<p>The support of the libertarian wing could help him build the non-traditional coalition that propelled his 2016 victory and continues to grow with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-expands-lead-biden-new-poll-women-blacks-hispanics-jump-off-sinking-ship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">black and Hispanic voters<\/a>, increasing turnout among those focused on civil liberty and non-interventionism.<\/p>\n<p>It may also undermine independent candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rfk-jr-s-family-ditches-endorses-biden-2024-election-major-blow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert F. Kennedy Jr.\u2019s<\/a> attempts to woo this demographic.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy\u2019s representative told <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4593162-rfk-jr-says-he-wont-run-libertarian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a> in April that although Kennedy decided against running as a Libertarian, he has \u201cmany areas of alignment with the Libertarian Party, including a strong stance on civil liberties and keeping the country out of foreign wars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not the Libertarian Party embraces Trump, it is, per the party\u2019s announcement statement, \u201chistoric\u201d and once again demonstrates Trump\u2019s unique talent for bucking traditional boundaries and reaching out to all Americans looking for change, regardless of their background or prior partisan affiliations.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
