Personalized assistance includes restroom access, name \u2063affirmation, and \u200dconfidentiality. The plan respects students&#8217; gender \u200bidentity, with parental disclosure based on their preference. Discussions on gender-inclusive \u200cliving and staff conflict were also documented. The school emphasizes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, including mandatory training on \u2064gender and sexual orientation diversity.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A math and science boarding academy in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/illinois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Illinois<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  implemented a plan last school year that encouraged staff at the school to come up with \u201cpersonalized\u201d gender \u201csupport\u201d plans for students who identify as transgender, according to documents shared with The Daily Wire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Illinois Math and Science Academy, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/illinois-math-and-science-academy-hosts-race-based-retreats-exclusively-for-black-and-latinx-students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">woke<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  public boarding school in Aurora for grades 10-12, rolled out a \u201cGender Support Process and Plan\u201d last school year that details how the school can support students\u2019 \u201csocial transition\u201d while they are at school and away from their parents, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/incidents\/illinois-math-and-science-academy-has-policy-that-keeps-student-gender-transitions-a-secret-from-parents-administrators-discussing-the-creation-of-gender-inclusive-housing-documents-and-emails-r\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">according<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  to documents and emails obtained by Parents Defending Education. The plan was created by the school\u2019s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office and school administrators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe Gender Support Plan is a resource for transgender, nonbinary, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michelle-malkin-exposing-the-woke-school-counselor-cabal\/\" title=\"Michelle Malkin: Exposing the Woke School Counselor Cabal\">gender expansive students<\/a>, to guide IMSA in supporting their needs, as well as assisting their social transition while at school,\u201d a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Gender-Support-Process-and-Plan-IMSA-IL-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">copy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  of the plan obtained by Parents Defending Education says. \u201cThis may include, but not limited to the following: access to restrooms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/18-year-old-male-identifying-as-female-enters-high-school-girls-locker-showers-naked-next-to-14-year-old-students-conservative-org-alleges\/\" title=\"18-Year-Old Male Identifying As Female Enters High School Girls\u2019 Locker, Showers Naked Next To 14-Year-Old Students, Conservative Org Alleges\">locker room accessibility<\/a>, affirmation of student\u2019s chosen name and pronouns, disclosure of students identity as requested by student, confidentiality of gender identity as requested by student, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oxford-high-school-appears-to-have-used-controversial-restorative-discipline-practices-prior-to-school-shooting\/\" title=\"Oxford High School Appears To Have Used Controversial \u2018Restorative\u2019 Discipline Practices Prior To School Shooting\">social-emotional supports<\/a>, staff training, and other supports expressed by the student.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">School Chief Public Affairs and Development Officer Tami Armstrong told The Daily Wire that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the plan was rolled out in October 2022 and is still \u201cunder development\u201d and that it \u201chas not been fully implemented due to resource limitations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe plan is designed to provide guidance and resources for faculty and staff to support the needs of transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive students,\u201d Armstrong said. \u201cSupport is intended to be personalized based on the specific needs of each student within IMSA\u2019s capacity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The plan says that it was influenced by Gender Spectrum, Lurie Children\u2019s Hospital, and Chicago Public School policies. Previous <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/chicago-hospital-works-hand-in-glove-with-schools-to-push-gender-transition-radical-gender-theory-on-students-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reporting<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  indicated that Lurie Children\u2019s Hospital of Chicago has worked to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chicago-hospital-works-hand-in-glove-with-schools-to-push-gender-transition-radical-gender-theory-on-students-report\/\" title=\"Chicago Hospital Works Hand-In-Glove With Schools To Push Gender Transition, Radical Gender Theory On Students: Report\">push radical gender theory<\/a> at schools.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_731469\" style=\"width: 409px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-731469\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Parents Defending Education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The support plan also said that parents should be left in the dark about the gender that their child identified as if the child did not want them to know.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cSchool staff shall not disclose information that may reveal a student\u2019s Chosen Name, Gender Identity, and Pronouns to others,\u201d the plan said. \u201cTherefore, given the sensitive nature of the information, when speaking with parents, guardians, other staff members, or third parties, school staff should not disclose a student\u2019s Chosen Name, Gender Identity, and Pronouns, or other confidential information pertaining to the student\u2019s transgender or gender nonconforming identity without the student\u2019s permission, unless authorized to do so by IMSA\u2019s Law Department.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Part of the plan included a form filled out about the student that indicated whether a guardian was aware and \u201cSUPPORTIVE\u201d of a student\u2019s \u201cgender identity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_731477\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-731477\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Parents Defending Education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If the guardian was in the dark, staff were asked to think about how to handle phone calls and notes to home in light of that information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to Armstrong, \u201ca student\u2019s legal name, preferred name, and personal pronouns\u201d are all listed in the school system, which parents and guardians can access.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The plan says that students are able to use the restrooms and locker rooms of the gender that they identify as. Emails obtained by Parents Defending Education indicated that staff had also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/IMSA-Gender-emails-Redacted-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">discussed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  \u201cgender inclusive living,\u201d but that policy hadn\u2019t yet been developed. Armstrong told The Daily Wire that students were housed by the sex on their birth certificate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The emails obtained by PDE show conflict among staff at the school after one faculty member emailed the DEI director in February 2023 complaining about not getting access to the Gender Support plan and asking that DEI stays \u201ctop of mind across the institution, especially at the cabinet level.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In response, the DEI officer responded: \u201cPlease stop blaming me for things, this work began before you!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1714657703188000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0-8IzS3B7axoRMsynY0m75\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The school has instituted a vast DEI program that emphasizes racial and sexual identity, which includes <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.imsa.edu\/dei_gsoe\/2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">requiring<\/a> s<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">eniors<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  to attend a three-hour training session called the \u201cGender and Sexual Orientation Diversity Education Workshop.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe goal of this program is to increase the awareness, knowledge, and skills for individuals and address the challenges that exist when one wants to advocate for their LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, asexual)+ peers, family members, friends, and for themselves,\u201d the course description says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As part of the workshop, staff use the \u201cGingerbread Person,\u201d from \u201cItsPronouncedMetrosexual.com\u201d to teach students about \u201cgender identity\u201d and \u201cgender expression.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_731481\" style=\"width: 452px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-731481\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Credit: Parents Defending Education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Elsewhere in the <a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Safe-Zone-Participant-Guide.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">curriculum<\/a>, resources from the Gay Alliance are used to teach kids about \u201cbeing respectful to transgender people.\u201d The resources include claims that surgeries to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/south-dakota-gov-kristi-noem-terminates-health-dept-contact-with-transgender-activist-group\/\" title=\"South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem Terminates Health Dept. Contact With Transgender Activist Group\">remove healthy body parts<\/a>, such as mastectomies on females who identify as males, are not cosmetic, but necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe changes I make to my body are not cosmetic, but rather reconstructive. Having a body I am comfortable with is vital to my health,\u201d one part of the curriculum says, while another asserts, \u201cIf I am a transman getting top surgery, then I am not \u2018getting my breasts removed.\u2019 I am having chest reconstruction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Erika Sanzi, of Parents Defending Education, ripped into the school for its promotion of gender ideology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s a shame that a school with the words math and science in its name has been totally captured by gender ideology but these emails and documents leave no doubt that is the case,\u201d she said. \u201cThere is no justification for a school to be deliberately hiding information from parents or compelling student speech.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, Illinois Math and Science Academy, a public boarding school in Aurora, introduced personalized gender support plans for transgender students.
