The\u200c charges\u200d involve failure\u200d to\u2062 obey \u2062orders and \u200bobstruction of justice, leading to \u2063prosecution by both\u2064 the Department of Justice and the\u200c Air Force.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/air-force\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Air Force<\/a> is pursuing charges against disgraced leaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/2901250\/pentagon-leaker-jack-teixeira-pleads-guilty-prosecutors-seek-16-year-sentence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Jack Teixeira<\/a> under military law, according to a service spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>Teixeira, who was a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/2901250\/pentagon-leaker-jack-teixeira-pleads-guilty-prosecutors-seek-16-year-sentence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pleaded guilty<\/a> to federal charges against him in March for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/julian-assanges-wife-says-hell-kill-himself-after-brits-approve-extradition-to-america\/\" title=\"Julian Assange\u2019s Wife Says He\u2019ll Kill Himself After Brits Approve Extradition To America\">leaking hundreds<\/a> of classified documents, and he was sentenced to a maximum of nearly 17 years in jail. <\/p>\n<p>The Air Force determined that \u201cseparate and distinct charges\u201d should be filed against Teixeira, the spokesperson told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> on Wednesday. He is facing two charges under the Uniform Code of Military Justice \u2014 one for failing to follow orders and one for obstructing justice.<\/p>\n<p>The charge of failing to follow orders relates to a lawful order to stop accessing information unrelated to his duties, which the department believes he failed to comply with. The latter charge relates to both his attempt to get rid of a tablet, computer, and cellphone and his attempt to get another person to delete Discord messages he sent.<\/p>\n<p>He is subject to both criminal prosecution by the Department of Justice and by the Air Force under the UCMJ because he was on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-katie-hobbs-sends-arizona-national-guard-to-border-bashing-bidens-refusal\/\" title=\"Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, deploys Arizona National Guard to border, criticizes Biden's denial\">active duty orders<\/a> at the time he committed his crimes, according to the spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>The Special Court-Martial Convening Authority ordered a hearing that will take place at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts on May 14. The Air Force Office of Special Investigations worked with the FBI to determine whether charges should be filed against Teixeira under the UCMJ.<\/p>\n<p>He has been accused of leaking hundreds of documents via the Discord app over several months spanning from 2022-23. At first, he began taking notes on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-no-need-for-trump-to-still-receive-intelligence-briefings\/\" title=\"Biden: \u2018No Need\u2019 For Trump To Still Receive Intelligence Briefings\">classified intelligence<\/a> to share with his friends on Discord, an online platform, but he then stopped that when he got concerned others were onto him. So he then decided to print it out, take it home with him, photograph it there and post those photos online.<\/p>\n<p>The airman, who had a top-secret clearance while working in the 102nd Intelligence Wing, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense-national-security\/alleged-pentagon-leaker-admonished-classified-document\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reprimanded twice for the improper handling<\/a> of classified material in September and October 2022, and in January 2023, he was seen using a Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System machine. Several of the documents he released showed sensitive details about Ukraine\u2019s and Russia\u2019s militaries.<\/p>\n<p>Teixiera was arrested on April 13, 2023, following a manhunt into who was behind the leak.
