A nosy in-law. A so-called \u201cwork spouse.\u201d God forbid, an affair with another person.<\/p>\n<p>One anonymous writer for an Australian feminist outlet has declared that an unusual \u201cthird wheel\u201d has entered her nuptials, however. He\u2019s bald, entertaining, half a world away and beloved by millions. Yet, he\u2019s \u201cruining my marriage,\u201d the anonymous author said.<\/p>\n<p>She speaks, of course, about Joe Rogan.<\/p>\n<p>In a month that produced plenty of evidence that those on the left refuse to even <em>tolerate<\/em> those not on the same page as them, much less take their arguments seriously \u2014 a theme that was played out violently on campuses across America over the war in Israel, especially at Columbia University \u2014 one of the wackier manifestations of this phenomenon came from Down Under.<\/p>\n<p>On April 8, an anonymous writer published a screed on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mamamia.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MamaMia<\/a>, an online feminist outlet that describes itself as a center of \u201cindependent women\u2019s journalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This includes hard-hitting articles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mamamia.com.au\/day-on-a-plate-trend-tiktok\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">like<\/a> \u201cInfluencers are bringing back \u2018Day on a Plate.\u2019 And it\u2019s more toxic than ever,\u201d in which YouTubers and TikTokkers are slammed for sharing their healthy meal plans, with the author arguing they come in under the recommended calorie intake for a day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mamamia.com.au\/boyfriend-girlfriend-partner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Also<\/a>, \u201cCalling someone your \u2018girlfriend\u2019 is officially cancelled.\u201d It\u2019s a thinkpiece about how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/taylor-swifts-boyfriend-travis-kelce-gets-extension-worth-millions-becomes-highest-paid-tight-end-nfl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Travis Kelce<\/a> and Taylor Swift, among other celebrities, refer to each other if they\u2019re dating but not married. Spoiler alert: It\u2019s \u201cjuvenile\u201d to use those words, and \u201cthe structure of our relationships has changed significantly over time, but our vocabulary hasn\u2019t sufficiently extended to be inclusive of these new unions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is funny enough in its own peculiarly sad way, but the cake-taker is the anonymous spouse who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mamamia.com.au\/my-husband-listens-to-joe-rogan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declared<\/a>, last month, \u201cJoe Rogan is ruining my marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The scribe began with Princess Diana of Wales\u2019 quote, during an interview, that, \u201cThere were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.\u201d She was referring, of course, to the then-title-free <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/royal-pain-prince-charles-wants-camilla-queen-despite-sons-protests-subjects-disapproval-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Camilla Parker-Bowles<\/a> \u2014 now Queen Camilla \u2014 who then-Prince Charles was having an affair with.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you listen to Joe Rogan?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Our anonymous agonized spouse said she identifies with Princess Diana, \u201cthough the \u2018third\u2019 in my marriage is an annoying male American voice who has somehow managed to insert himself into my relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoe Rogan, often touted as the world\u2019s most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/steven-crowder-temporarily-suspended-from-twitter-over-voter-fraud-post-crowder-responds-fight-like-hell\/\" title=\"Steven Crowder Temporarily Suspended From Twitter Over Voter Fraud Post; Crowder Responds: \u2018Fight Like Hell\u2019\">popular podcast host<\/a>, can be heard in our kitchen, bathroom, or backyard on loud speaker morning, noon and night,\u201d she wrote. \u201cAnd like the uninvited guest he is (by me anyway) he\u2019s causing tension in my home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yes, reality is now officially making satire obsolete. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/babylon-bees-ramaswamy-joke-causes-controversy-among-conservatives-vivek-steps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Babylon Bee<\/a> has nothing on this.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the author admitted that both her husband and her differ politically, but had \u201csettled into a companionable acceptance\u201d of these differences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery loosely I am more liberal and he is more conservative. There were arguments (usually around national elections) but it didn\u2019t really interfere with our relationship,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut since Rogan has appeared on the scene I feel like my husband\u2019s taken a trip to right-wing-crazy-town. He\u2019s developed a deep distrust of science and government. He stopped taking the COVID boosters early on and is skeptical about vaccinations generally. He once tried to explain to me why aliens probably built the pyramids,\u201d she claimed in the article.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd while I do believe in taking a critical approach to life, relentless conspiracy theories are exhausting and can leave you feeling like you\u2019ve landed in la la land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The woman then brought up things she said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-joe-rogan-leaves-google-researcher-speechless-corners-lack-privacy-agencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rogan<\/a> has posited that are false, including furries demanding kitty litter in school bathrooms. However, how she would know this is beyond me, because this is what she admits in <em>the very next paragraph:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>My husband will argue that I can\u2019t criticize Rogan because I don\u2019t listen to him, which is true.<\/em> But what I can do is observe his influence on my husband, and this is what I see.\u201d [Emphasis ours.]\n<p>Oh! Rogan is apparently on in her house day and night, so much so that his voice is inescapable \u2026 but she <em>hasn\u2019t listened to him? <\/em>She just knows because now her husband is talking about things like wokeness gone amok, and we can\u2019t have <em>that. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to her, the husband has gotten some wacky ideas via the \u201cthird wheel,\u201d noting, \u201cIt appears that for Rogan and those who follow him, <em>the political is persona<\/em><strong>l<\/strong>. My husband will often get angry about what he calls \u2018woke\u2019 activists and how \u2018they\u2019 are going too far. When he says the word \u2018feminist\u2019 he reduces it to a dirty word.\u201d [Emphasis again ours.]\n<p>In this paragraph, we can see exactly <em>why<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-joe-rogan-blasts-disturbing-media-deception-trumps-bloodbath-comments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rogan<\/a> irritates so many on the left, and it\u2019s not because he gives marching orders to brainless, spineless men whose political views would otherwise be moldable by \u2014 thank ye heavens! \u2014 sensible women like our author, but who are now being warped by some podcaster.<\/p>\n<p>Note the bolded phrase: \u201cThe personal is political.\u201d It has a history, so much so that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/the-personal-is-political\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Encyclopedia Britannica<\/a> \u2014 among many other sources \u2014 has an entry on it. Spoiler alert: It didn\u2019t originate with the right, but with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/radical-feminists-claim-responsibility-torching-pro-life-journalists-car-vandalizing-churches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">radical feminists<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe personal is political, political slogan expressing a common belief among feminists that the personal experiences of women are rooted in their political situation and gender inequality,\u201d the Encyclopedia Britannica noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough the origin of the phrase \u2018the personal is political\u2019 is uncertain, it became popular following the publication in 1970 of an essay of the same name by American feminist Carol Hanisch, who argued that many personal experiences (particularly those of women) can be traced to one\u2019s location within a system of power relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no particular need for feminists to spout this phrase anymore, at least for themselves. In this arena of the culture war, they have assumed they\u2019ve attained victory. \u201cToxic masculinity\u201d and \u201cgender roles\u201d are phrases tossed around by liberals with the same contempt that this woman\u2019s husband allegedly uses when he talks about \u201cwokeness\u201d and \u201cfeminism.\u201d \u201cBelieve all women\u201d isn\u2019t just a phrase that sprouted from the #MeToo movement, it\u2019s now become an inviolable cultural maxim in the West and similar cultures.<\/p>\n<p>When men wake up and realize this is all rubbish forced upon them by a leftist monoculture, it\u2019s blamed on that goshdarned \u201ctoxic masculinity\u201d \u2014 in this case, embodied in the personage of Joe Rogan, a podcaster who is apparently ruining marriages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know my husband is not a bigot. If a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-santa-colonel-how-one-air-force-officer-turned-a-sears-ad-typo-into-a-holiday-tradition\/\" title=\"\u2018The Santa Colonel\u2019: How One Air Force Officer Turned A Sears Ad Typo Into A Holiday Tradition\">child asked<\/a> him to use a certain pronoun, he absolutely would without a fuss. He has empathy. What has this harlot Rogan done to my kind, loving husband?\u201d the writer asked.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s truly amazing that this woman \u2014 apparently more than willing to vocalize her opinions to her husband \u2014 is suddenly repulsed when he gets some of his own. But he couldn\u2019t have come up with this himself, right? Blame the dude with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-joe-rogan-speaks-neil-young-sparks-spotify-controversy-interested-finding-truth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">show on Spotify<\/a> \u2026 which, admittedly, she\u2019s never <em>really <\/em>listened to.<\/p>\n<p>Before the author hit send on this, she surely must have read it again to see if she had cogently expressed her arguments. So lacking in self-awareness is this woman, apparently, that, at no point during this rereading, did it occur to her that she was telling one side of a problematic relationship, and a telling one at that.<\/p>\n<p>To this writer\u2019s husband, I imagine there\u2019s a \u201cthird wheel,\u201d too: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/snl-may-never-invite-shane-gillis-back-controversial-monologue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cudgel of political correctness<\/a> she wields whenever he criticizes \u201cwokeness.\u201d Heaven forfend he ever doesn\u2019t use the pronoun the hypothetical child asked him to, or then he\u2019d really get a whack with it \u2014 probably in divorce court, from the sound of things.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Rogan is not the one who made the political personal in this dysfunctional relationship. Instead, it\u2019s the fact that this woman has apparently blindly swallowed whatever pap that was fed to her by progressive feminists who have succeeded in making their personal grievances political and react with unmerciful venom whenever their status quo is challenged.<\/p>\n<p>This would all be quite silly \u2014 if there weren\u2019t enough people who probably nodded along with this witless, self-deluded woman, and not given her condemnation of the \u201cthird wheel\u201d in her marriage the mockery it so clearly deserved.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
