Wade\">000 unborn children annually<\/a>. With a constitutional amendment up for a vote that would undo the lifesaving law, Democrats like state Sen. Lauren Book are in full fearmongering spin mode. As Book recently told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/miami\/news\/state-senator-lauren-book-explains-impact-of-floridas-6-week-abortion-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBS Miami<\/a>, \u201cWomen and girls will die.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Kamala Harris will be in Jacksonville on Wednesday when the law takes effect with the same message, following her boss\u2019s visit to Tampa, where Joe Biden made the sign of the cross during a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sbaprolife\/status\/1782892743276073188\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">speech<\/a> calling for unlimited abortion.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1107006753\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-325868b4f8db1ce2595e6d5101f64b01 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-325868b4f8db1ce2595e6d5101f64b01\"><\/div>\n<p>Between now and November, the media will try to obscure the facts on the heartbeat law and the exceptions that exist by calling it a \u201cnear total ban.\u201d This is despite the fact that Florida\u2019s law not only has a life of the mother exception that allows pregnant women to receive the emergency care they always have, but also rape, incest, fetal anomaly, and human trafficking exceptions.<\/p>\n<p>The media will also fail to acknowledge that the heartbeat law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis one year ago follows both science and public opinion. The law is <a href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/SBA_FL-STW_Benchmark_Memo_v2.0_230307.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">popular<\/a> with 62 percent of Floridians supporting, including 58 percent of women and 76 percent of Hispanic voters. Around six weeks, a baby\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=k0WNRR-epPI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">heart<\/a> beats about 110 beats per minute.\u00a0Once a heartbeat is detected, a baby has over a <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/fact-sheet-fetal-survival-and-risk-of-pregnancy-loss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">90 percent chance of surviving<\/a> to birth. <\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the abortion ballot measure to amend the state Constitution would leave Florida with what DeSantis rightly calls a California-style abortion amendment.\u00a0The broad language of this measure creates a right to abortion during all nine months of pregnancy. <\/p>\n<p>As confirmed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/news\/florida-politics\/elections\/2024\/04\/09\/florida-does-parental-notification-abortions-equal-consent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Miami Herald and Tampa Bay Times<\/a>, girls who aren\u2019t old enough to get their ears pierced on their own will be able to obtain an abortion without a parent\u2019s consent.\u00a0The health and safety requirements for abortion facilities would be eviscerated by this amendment. Abortions won\u2019t need to be performed by doctors, and abortion facilities won\u2019t need to be near hospitals or have hospital admitting privileges, putting women at serious risk. If anything, Florida\u2019s abortion industry needs more regulation, not less. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnj.com\/story\/news\/2022\/05\/21\/pensacola-florida-abortion-clinic-ordered-close-after-three-women-hospitalized\/9871271002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pensacola facility<\/a> was shut down after sending multiple women to the hospital in 2022, and <a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/content\/download\/20807\/file\/Abortion_Report_2022_Regulatory_Actions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">25<\/a> percent\u00a0of the industry was fined last year during annual inspections. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2410612e4753f7bd557a70ea5813d27b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2410612e4753f7bd557a70ea5813d27b\"><\/div>\n<p>The ballot measure serves the abortion industry\u2019s profit motive by removing everything that impedes them from making money at the expense of babies\u2019 lives and women\u2019s safety: taking the consent of parents out of the picture, undoing all health regulations on their industry, and allowing abortions to occur whenever \u2014 first, second, and third trimesters. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no wonder that Mona Reis, owner of a large abortion facility, is behind this radical measure and that a number of abortionists and those who collect a paycheck from Planned Parenthood are funding it. Nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/dos.elections.myflorida.com\/committees\/ComDetail.asp?account=83927\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one-third<\/a> of the total money raised for this initiative comes straight from the abortion industry, which can afford to pour millions into ballot measures like Florida\u2019s because they will see an ROI. When Planned Parenthood makes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/planned-parenthood-rakes-billions-despite-offering-fewer-services-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$1.9 billion<\/a> in a year, it\u2019s just a line item in their marketing budget. <\/p>\n<p>The activation of the heartbeat law marks an enormous victory in the human rights battle of our time, in Florida and the nation as a whole. We can celebrate the boys and girls who will live because of Florida\u2019s heartbeat law and the ways they will bless their families, friends, and communities.<\/p>\n<p>Florida is already the home to one little boy whose life was saved by a heartbeat law. In the neighboring state of Georgia, a woman named <a href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/latest-news\/neeshas-story-the-heartbeat-law-saved-my-babys-life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Neesha<\/a> chose life because when she called to set up an appointment for an abortion, she was told she was passed the cutoff under the state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-untold-story-of-the-governments-long-history-of-persecuting-pro-life-americans\/\" title=\"The Untold Story Of The Government\u2019s Long History Of Persecuting Pro-life Americans\">law protecting unborn children<\/a>. As a result, she gave birth to a sweet baby boy who was adopted by a family in Florida, and she says she\u2019s thankful the law was in place and that she gave life to her son.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2d9c408410e9d252959b90730dc2a01d fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2d9c408410e9d252959b90730dc2a01d\"><\/div>\n<p>Florida is providing more help to mothers like Neesha who experience an unplanned pregnancy through the heartbeat bill\u2019s allocation of $25 million for pregnancy centers.\u00a0These centers offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, medical exams, counseling, parent classes, financial classes, and resources such as food, diapers, clothing, and financial assistance for housing and utilities.\u00a0Florida\u2019s pregnancy centers serve tens of thousands of women and will be able to expand their services to moms thanks to funding from the heartbeat law.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats will do everything they can to prevent a repeat of Florida\u2019s 2022 red wave, and they think abortion is their golden ticket. As one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/04\/23\/politics\/biden-abortion-rights-florida\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNN headline<\/a> put it, \u201cBiden looks to use abortion rights to put Florida in play.\u201d The reality is Republicans in Florida need to be as invested as their opponents on the issue of abortion, or they will lose. Candidates must defend babies with a heartbeat by telling stories like Neesha\u2019s, emphasizing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/post-roe-pro-life-activists-vow-to-protect-mothers-and-babies-while-planned-parenthood-touts-more-at-home-abortions\/\" title=\"Post-Roe: Pro-Life Activists Vow to Protect Mothers and Babies While Planned Parenthood Touts More At-Home Abortions\">pro-life safety net<\/a>, and contrasting their pro-life position with the all-trimester abortion amendment.
