The workers are seeking reinstatement, back pay, \u200band\u2063 a\u200d commitment\u2062 from Google to respect their right to organize. Former Google employees, fired for protesting the company&#8217;s\u200d Israel contract through\u2063 an office sit-in, have filed a complaint\u200c with the National Labor Relations Board. They\u2062 allege labor rights violations and demand\u2063 job reinstatement,\u2062 back \u2062pay, and assurance of their right to organize. The workers aim to hold Google accountable for \u200btheir actions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>The workers fired from <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/google\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Google<\/a> for staging an office sit-in to protest the company\u2019s contract with Israel have filed a complaint with the <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nlrb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>National Labor Relations Board<\/a>, alleging the company violated their labor rights by terminating them.<\/p>\n<p>The workers in the complaint are demanding their jobs be reinstated with back pay and the company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/news\/ex-google-workers-firings-protesting-171537246.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>release<\/a> a statement saying it will not violate workers\u2019 rights to organize. In an email the day after the sit-ins, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said work is not the place to debate politics, but the protesters argued in the lawsuit they were discussing working conditions, including the fact that the company has a $1.2 billion contract with Israel, not politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a very clear case of employees disrupting and occupying work spaces, and making other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-gov-abbott-invites-elon-musk-to-bring-twitter-to-texas-alongside-tesla-spacex\/\" title=\"Texas Gov. Abbott Invites Elon Musk To Bring Twitter To Texas Alongside Tesla, SpaceX\">employees feel threatened<\/a> and unsafe,\u201d a Google spokesperson said in a statement to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy any standard, their behavior was completely unacceptable \u2014 and widely seen as such. We carefully confirmed and reconfirmed that every single person whose employment was terminated was directly and definitively involved in disruption inside our buildings. We are confident in our position and stand by the actions we\u2019ve taken.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>One of the workers contacted by the <em>Washington Post<\/em> says he did not help organize the protest and only stopped by to watch the event until a security guard asked for his badge. He later received an email from Google saying that \u201che\u2019d been fired for violating Google\u2019s code of conduct and harassing employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a document <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2024\/04\/30\/google-fired-israel-nlrb-labor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>obtained<\/a> by the outlet, workers say Google violated their rights \u201cby terminating and\/or placing them on administrative leave in response to their protected concerted activity, namely, participation (or perceived participation) in a peaceful, non-disruptive protest that was directly and explicitly connected to their terms and conditions of work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit alleges Google fired 50 employees following the sit-in in early April, in which workers were protesting Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion contract awarded to the company and Amazon to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aol.com\/news\/ex-google-workers-firings-protesting-171537246.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>supply<\/a> the Israeli government with cloud services. <\/p>\n<p>Some workers were taking part in a No Tech for Apartheid campaign, which aims to cut the tech giants off from Israeli funding and has taken Gaza\u2019s side in the Israel-Hamas war.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Google employees dismissed for staging an office sit-in over the company&#8217;s Israel contract have lodged a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board.
