Gen. \u2063Haliva over the failure to preemptively \u2063detect\u2062 the attack.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   April 30, 2024 at 1:48pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump said in a new interview that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu deserves criticism over the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas that led to the slaughter of Israeli civilians.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/not-a-fan-trump-blasts-meghan-markle-for-royal-family-racism-claims-mocks-her-rumored-presidential-run\/\" title=\"\u2018Not A Fan\u2019: Trump Blasts Meghan Markle For Royal Family Racism Claims, Mocks Her Rumored Presidential Run\">wide-ranging interview<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/6972022\/donald-trump-transcript-2024-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Time<\/a>, Trump said he would support Israel if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ukrainian-complaints-show-definition-of-imminent-had-nothing-to-do-with-joe-biden-debacle\/\" title=\"Ukrainian Complaints Show Definition of 'Imminent' Had Nothing to Do with Joe Biden Debacle\">full-fledged war<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-administrations-inexplicable-move-may-just-escalated-israel-iran-clash-way-nations-wanted-avoid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iran<\/a> breaks out, but was critical of Israel\u2019s readiness when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-weighs-pro-hamas-rallies-4-word-solution-change-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hamas<\/a> stunned it on Oct. 7.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBibi Netanyahu rightfully has been criticized for what took place on October 7,\u201d Trump told Time.. \u201cI would say that what happened on \u2026 October 7 should have never happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Noting that the attack happened \u201con his watch,\u201d Trump said, speaking of Netanyahu, \u201cAnd I think it\u2019s had a profound impact on him, despite everything. Because people said that shouldn\u2019t have happened. They have the most sophisticated equipment. They had \u2014 everything was there to stop that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd a lot of people knew about it, you know. Thousands and thousands of people knew about it, but Israel didn\u2019t know about it, and I think he\u2019s being blamed for that very strongly, being blamed. And now you have the hostage situation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I happen to think that on the hostages, knowing something about the enemy, and knowing something about people, I think you have very few hostages left. You know, they talk about all of these hostages. I don\u2019t believe [Hamas terrorists] are able or even wanting to take care of people as negotiations. I don\u2019t\u2014I think the hostages are going to be far fewer than people think, which is a very sad thing,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>In late April, Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva, who led Israeli military intelligence at the time of the attack, resigned over the failure of Israeli officials to detect the Oct. 7 attack before it took place. More resignations are expected, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/israel-hamas-war-news-04-22-2024-85da1c989f71f8c3bf00d8b45a0ed7f1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A report in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/11\/30\/world\/middleeast\/israel-hamas-attack-intelligence.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a> has indicated that some elements of the plan used on Oct. 7 were known by Israeli intelligence officials months before the attack.<\/p>\n<p>In the Time interview, Trump was asked about the two-state solution, in which one state would be for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/palestinian-flag-replaces-american-flag-harvard-police-step\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palestinians<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He was not optimistic about the possibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure a two-state solution anymore is gonna work. Everybody was talking about two states, even when I was there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a time when I thought two states could work. Now I think two states is going to be very, very tough. I think it\u2019s going to be much tougher to get. I also think you have fewer people that liked the idea. You had a lot of people that liked the idea four years ago. Today, you have far fewer people that like that idea,\u201d he said, adding \u201cthere may not be another idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the root issue in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/house-democrats-furious-mike-johnson-forcing-reveal-true-colors-anti-semitism-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Middle East<\/a>, Trump said that Arab \u201cchildren grow up and they\u2019re taught to hate Jewish people at a level that nobody thought was possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I had a friend, a very good friend, Sheldon Adelson, who felt that it was impossible to make a deal because the level of hatred was so great. And I think it was much more so on one side than the other, but the level of hatred of Jewish people was so great, and taught from the time they were in kindergarten and before,\u201d Trump said, adding that Adelson \u201cfelt that it was impossible to make a deal because of the level of hatred.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump said that he \u00a0\u201cdisagreed with it. But so far, he hasn\u2019t been wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In March, Trump said in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.israelhayom.com\/2024\/03\/25\/trump-to-israel-hayom-only-a-fool-would-have-not-acted-like-israel-on-oct-7\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Israel Hayom<\/a> that Israel had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nancy-pelosi-embarrasses-us-traveling-abroad-extremely-foolish-attempt-interfere-israeli-politics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">losing<\/a> the public relations war.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Israel made a very big mistake. I wanted to call [Israel] and say don\u2019t do it. These photos and shots. I mean, moving shots of bombs being dropped into buildings in Gaza. And I said, Oh, that\u2019s a terrible portrait. It\u2019s a very bad picture for the world. The world is seeing this\u2026every night, I would watch buildings pour down on people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>When reminded by his interviewer that terrorists hide in the building Israel destroys, he replied,\u00a0 \u201cGo and do what you have to do.
