Lauren Boebert (R-CO) to\u2062 remove the gray wolf from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/congressman-shares-loggers-brutal-video-with-call-to-delist-wolves-any-fear-of-humans-now-gone-from-species\/\" title=\"Congressman shares logger's video calling for wolf delisting: 'No more fear of humans\">endangered \u200bspecies\u200c list<\/a>, citing concerns \u2063of harm\u2064 to farmers. This Trust the\u2063 Science \u2064Act,\u2064 passed by a narrow\u200c margin of 209-205 along party lines, aims to\u200b end judicial oversight of the\u200d wolf population,\u200b returning\u2064 management to states and tribal agencies. The bill follows wolf attacks on livestock in Colorado, urging\u2063 a focus on truly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/scientists-clone-endangered-american-animal-for-first-time\/\" title=\"Scientists Clone Endangered American Animal For First Time\">endangered species<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The House approved a proposal to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/daily-on-energy\/2972192\/daily-on-energy-house-gop-to-take-argument-that-the-gray-wolf-is-overprotected-to-rural-minnesota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>remove the gray wolf<\/a> from the endangered species list after concerns from Republicans that the distinction disproportionately affected farmers by threatening their livestock. <\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers<strong> <\/strong>voted 209-205<strong> <\/strong>to pass the Trust the Science Act on Tuesday, which would delist the gray wolf and remove any judicial oversight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2274088\/court-gives-environmentalists-a-defeat-over-gray-wolf-protection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>over the animal population<\/a>. The bill was passed largely along party lines, with only four Democrats voting in favor of the measure.\u00a0Four Republicans voted against it.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation was led by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) in response to the release of 10 gray wolves in Colorado late last year, which the congresswoman said has resulted in livestock depredations and at least six separate wolf attacks \u201cjust this month.\u201d The bill, if passed, would remove the gray wolf from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/video-shows-moment-700-pound-gator-bolts-out-of-water-and-attacks-85-year-old-florida-woman\/\" title=\"Video Shows Moment 700-Pound Gator Bolts Out Of Water And Attacks 85-Year-Old Florida Woman\">federal endangered species list<\/a> and return oversight of wolf management to individual states and tribal wildlife agencies. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s do as my bill says: Trust the bipartisan science and pass this bill so we can finally delist the recovered \u2014 fully recovered \u2014 gray wolf and focus scarce taxpayer funding on endangered species that actually need help,\u201d Boebert said on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>Democrats had pushed back against the bill, claiming it was an effort to weaken environmental laws. Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA) pushed against Boebert\u2019s proposal, accusing Republicans of repeatedly trying to alter the Endangered Species Act for political reasons. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublican leadership has taken an opportunity to vilify an endangered species today, here on this floor, to sacrifice it to their precious industry groups,\u201d Huffman said. \u201cGuns. Oil. And polluters. That has come to be what the GOP stands for, at least in this Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill comes after the Interior Department and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service delisted the gray wolf in the lower 48 states in 2021, when there were roughly 6,000 wolves recorded in the U.S. population. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/defenders.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-02\/Wolf%20Order.pdf\">that decision was overturned<\/a> by a California judge in 2022, fully restoring Endangered Species Act protections for the gray wolf across much of the country. <\/p>\n<p>Since then, many livestock producers have come out in support of returning the duty of oversight to the individual states. The bill has received support from groups such as the National Rifle Association, Safari Club International, Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife, Wisconsin Cattlemen\u2019s Association, and Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Huffman lamented the proposed removal as an endangered species, arguing that although the country\u2019s gray wolf population has recovered in recent decades, \u201cthe science and the facts on the ground tell us that it still needs help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The proposal now heads to the Senate, where it\u2019s unclear whether it would pass the Democratic-led chamber.
