Stefanik\u200b pushes for\u2062 an\u2063 investigation into Smith&#8217;s actions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/%20\"><span>Johnathan Jones<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   April 30, 2024 at 9:06am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>An official ethics complaint was filed against Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday that alleged his prosecution of former President Donald Trump is blatant election interference.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint was filed by Republican Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/elise-stefanik-fires-back-sexist-smear-nancy-pelosi-calls-double-standard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elise Stefanik<\/a> of New York, the chair of the House GOP Conference.<\/p>\n<p>In an official complaint to Jeffrey Ragsdale of the DOJ\u2019s Office of Professional Responsibility, Stefanik accused Smith of egregious ethics violations that deserve \u201cdiscipline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith is overseeing two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-indictment-pattern-emerges-jack-smith-announces-third-set-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/terrorism-homicide-prosecutors-brought-in-to-try-capitol-riot-defendants-for-crimes-like-trespassing\/\" title=\"Terrorism, Homicide Prosecutors Brought In To Try Capitol Riot Defendants For Crimes Like Trespassing\">federal criminal cases<\/a><\/a> against the former president and presumptive 2024 Republican White House nominee.<\/p>\n<p>In one case, Smith has accused Trump of crimes he says equate to election interference stemming from the former president\u2019s challenging of the 2020 election. In a separate case, Smith alleged Trump mishandled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-judge-will-delay-trumps-classified-document-trial-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">classified documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department is seeking to imprison Trump in both cases.<\/p>\n<p>In total, Trump faces nearly four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/these-senate-dems-pledged-to-return-sbfs-political-donations-records-show-they-still-havent\/\" title=\"These Senate Dems Pledged to Return SBF\u2019s Political Donations. Records Show They Still Haven\u2019t.\">dozen federal charges<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/interactives\/2023\/trump-criminal-investigations-cases-tracker-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a> noted.<\/p>\n<p>Stefanik argued in her complaint that the cases were a way for Smith to suppress the will of voters by criminally prosecuting a man who is leading President Joe Biden in many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-takes-commanding-lead-biden-even-cnn-poll-shows-45-holds-major-advantage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polls<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should Jack Smith be disciplined?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s obvious to any reasonable observer that Jack Smith is trying to interfere with the 2024 election and stop the American people from electing Donald Trump,\u201d Stefanik said in a statement announcing the complaint filing on her X account.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83d\udea8\ud83d\udea8\ud83d\udea8 I just filed an official ethics complaint against Jack Smith with the Department of Justice\u2019s Office of Professional Responsibility for his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-officials-defy-federal-ethics-law\/\" title=\"White House officials disregard ethics law.\">illegal election interference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s obvious to any reasonable observer that Jack Smith is trying to interfere with the 2024 election\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lNW4MUz5Oi\">pic.twitter.com\/lNW4MUz5Oi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Elise Stefanik (@EliseStefanik) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EliseStefanik\/status\/1785282244493357291?\">April 30, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAt every turn, he has sought to accelerate his illegal prosecution of President Trump for the clear (if unstated) purpose of trying him before the November election,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker further argued that Smith is actively violating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/doj-spent-millions-probing-biden-now-look-spent-investigating-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his department\u2019s<\/a> policies with the cases, accusing him of personal bias.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJack Smith\u2019s actions brought disrepute to the Justice Department and the federal government as a whole, and he should <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/stefanik-accuses-doj-special-counsel-jack-smith-of-attempting-to-interfere-with-2024-election\/\" title=\"Stefanik claims DOJ special counsel Jack Smith meddled in 2024 election\">face discipline appropriately<\/a>,\u201d Stefanik concluded.<\/p>\n<p>In her official complaint, the congresswoman said Smith\u2019s \u201cmultiple attempts to rush to trial the federal January 6th case against President Trump violated long-standing, explicit Justice Department policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurther, Jack Smith\u2019s repeated violations of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia\u2019s stay of proceedings are a lawless breach of trial ethics and lawyerly conduct,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>She also invoked several legal motions filed by Smith since the U.S. Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/top-dems-furious-scotus-decides-take-trump-immunity-case-dont-king\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> it would weigh Trump\u2019s claims of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/supreme-court-hands-trump-win-rejects-jack-smiths-request-expedite-presidential-immunity-decision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presidential immunity<\/a> on some of the charges Trump faces.<\/p>\n<p>Stefanik argued pursuing legal action of any kind during the stay equates to a clear example of \u201cmisconduct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis conduct strongly supports the opening of an ethics investigation to hold Biden special counsel Jack Smith accountable for prosecutorial misconduct,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Stefanik asked Ragsdale to open an investigation immediately.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
