But since the Republican primary was over before it began, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"media\u2019s\">media\u2019s<\/a> beloved Democrats are now making a mess of both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2984316\/columbia-anti-israel-protesters-seize-hamilton-hall-failed-negotiations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">domestic<\/a> and foreign policy, many in the commentariat are spending a lot of time <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2024\/04\/29\/trumps-next-vp-candidate-what-to-know\/73501065007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">speculating<\/a> about who former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Donald Trump\">Donald Trump<\/a> will select as his running mate. <\/p>\n<p>After Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kristi-noem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Kristi Noem<\/a> (R-SD) nuked her veepstakes odds with the bizarre decision to prove her toughness by bragging about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2982990\/kristi-noem-underestimates-shock-over-dog-killing\/#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shooting a puppy<\/a> with a 12-gauge, North Dakota governor and former sort-of presidential candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/2982856\/dog-killer-kristi-noem-milquetoast-doug-burgum-vice-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Doug Burgum<\/a> emerged as a top choice. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2931806\/trump-vp-tracker-pros-cons-running-mate-contenders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Other names<\/a> such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), perpetual Arizona candidate Kari Lake, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard have also been floated by \u201csources,\u201d but Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fla-gov-ron-desantis-becoming-major-voice-for-gop\/\" title=\"Fla. Gov. If the focus is kept on Biden\u2019s age, mental decline, outrageous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/2434503\/hunter-bidens-business-career-is-corrupt-and-joe-biden-is-fine-with-that\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">family corruption<\/a>, and disastrous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/2964417\/inflation-how-much-prices-for-important-goods-and-services-have-risen-under-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">economic<\/a> and foreign policy, The Donald will join President Grover Cleveland in the history books.<\/p>\n<p>The book has been thoroughly written on Biden and Trump. They both have been public figures for most of their extremely long adult lives, and very few people are without a strong opinion on both men. <\/p>\n<p>MAGA fans talked a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2600508\/tucker-carlson-says-he-would-not-vote-for-trump-haley-ticket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">big game<\/a> about keeping neoconservatives out of a potential second Trump administration, but they have proven that talk is cheap. Trumpworld looked the other way as the former president went soft on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2952839\/trumps-two-fold-abortion-problem-heading-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortion<\/a> and refused to accept any blame for COVID-19 lockdowns and Faucism, and they now hate Speaker of the House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2983763\/mike-johnson-relationship-trump-ouster-threat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mike Johnson<\/a> (R-LA) for essentially echoing all of Trump\u2019s positions verbatim.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They will fall in line even if Trump selects a hawk such as Nikki Haley or a social centrist such as Scott. Establishment Republicans who personally dislike Trump dislike Biden more (or at least dislike Biden\u2019s policies more).\u00a0Senate Minority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2903669\/mcconnell-endorses-trump-for-president-despite-rocky-past\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mitch McConnell<\/a> (R-KY) endorsed the former president, and the McConnell wing of the party will turn out for Trump \u2014 even if he picks a grifter such as Lake or a literal Democrat such as Tulsi Gabbard. <\/p>\n<p>Some Democratic strategists and talking heads have suggested that Biden should replace wildly unpopular and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/2955259\/whats-the-matter-with-kamala-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comically incompetent<\/a> Vice President Kamala Harris to bolster the ticket. But in the extremely unlikely scenario where Vice President Venn Diagram is benched, it likely won\u2019t help the president. This is a simple election: Sleepy Joe vs. Orange Man Bad. The stage is set. Everyone knows the players.
