Stefanik \u200blodged an \u200bethics \u2064complaint against Smith with the \u200dDepartment of Justice. She alleges Smith violated DOJ standards and ethical duties by expediting a \u2064trial related to election interference. Stefanik also criticized \u2064Smith&#8217;s team for filing motions during a stayed case, leading to \u200ca contempt\u200d bid by Trump&#8217;s team. Though a judge declined contempt, pretrial \u200dmotions were limited pending a Supreme Court debate on immunity. The Supreme Court is considering the debate over immunity, with oral arguments taking place last week.<\/p>\n<p>Smith \u201chas sought to accelerate his illegal prosecution of President Trump for the clear (if unstated) purpose of trying him before the November election,\u201d Stefanik said in a statement, adding that the DOJ\u2019s \u201cown policies clearly prohibit Smith from doing so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmith\u2019s conduct has brought disrepute to the Department of Justice and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-football-analogy-to-explain-democrats-election-cheating\/\" title=\"A Football Analogy to Explain Democrats' Election Cheating\">entire federal government<\/a>, and the DOJ\u2019s Office of Professional Responsibility should impose the discipline that such conduct warrants,\u201d Stefanik added.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1714314649401000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0R7buYDr5ycgwzOHpoxkHS\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Smith declined to comment on the letter to The Daily Wire, but did point to the <a href=\"https:\/\/casetext.com\/case\/united-states-v-trump-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">judge\u2019s ruling<\/a> on contempt and comments by DOJ investigator Jay Bratt last month in the Florida-based classified documents case against Trump.<\/p>\n<p>During a hearing, Bratt said Smith\u2019s team was in <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/dojs-60-day-rule-role-play-trump-trial\/story?id=107789927\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cfull compliance\u201d<\/a> with the DOJ Manual, and he argued that prosecuting an existing indictment in the period leading up to an election does not violate the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2022\/09\/27\/us\/politics\/what-is-60-day-rule.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201c60-day rule\u201d<\/a> meant to avoid influencing voters.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who is facing two other criminal cases as well as civil litigation as he runs another White House campaign, has broadly denied any wrongdoing and has argued that politically motivated prosecutors are conducting a \u201cwitch hunt\u201d against him.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/exclusive-matt-gaetz-calls-on-doj-inspector-general-to-investigate-jack-smith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exclusively reported<\/a> that another Republican, Rep.
