Critics argue that the change jeopardizes women&#8217;s rights and safety in \u2063educational settings.\u2062 Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, alongside other states, are contesting the Biden administration&#8217;s alteration of Title\u200b IX to incorporate gender identities within the definition of \u201csex.\u201d Backed by advocacy groups, these states seek to halt the rule before\u200d the \u2064August 1 deadline. Critics express concerns that this modification\u200c poses a threat to women&#8217;s rights and safety in educational environments.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/alabama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Alabama<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Florida<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Georgia<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/south-carolina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"South Carolina\">South Carolina<\/a> have joined a growing number of states suing the Biden administration for rewriting Title IX to include gender identities in the definition of \u201csex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The states <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-campaign-files-lawsuit-to-overturn-fraudulent-election-in-georgia\/\" title=\"TRUMP CAMPAIGN Files Lawsuit to Overturn Fraudulent Election in Georgia\">filed suit<\/a> Monday afternoon, joined by the advocacy groups Independent Women\u2019s Law Center, Independent Women\u2019s Network, Parents Defending Education, and Speech First, seeking to block the rule from going into effect by its Aug. 1 deadline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden\u2019s new Title IX rules shred protections for women \u2014 that so many fought for over decades,\u201d Florida\u2019s GOP Attorney General Ashley Moody <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myfloridalegal.com\/newsrelease\/attorney-general-moody-fights-protect-women-and-girls-challenges-bidens-unlawful-title\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> in a press release. \u201cThe idea that young girls can now legally be forced to undress in the same room with males in what is supposed to be a safe space like a locker room, that a young woman could be randomly assigned a roommate that is a biological male with little to no say over the matter, or that biological men would be eligible for women\u2019s scholarships is ludicrous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2971440\/biden-administration-finalizes-controversial-title-ix-rule\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>rewrote the rules<\/a> governing the enforcement of Title IX to redefine \u201csex\u201d to include gender identities, forcing schools to allow males in the private spaces of females. The controversial rules have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2971947\/devos-bidens-title-ix-overhaul-harm-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>roundly criticized<\/a> on the Right for harming women and girls.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myfloridalegal.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-04\/1-complaint.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>complaint<\/a>, the coalition argued that when enacted, references to \u201csex\u201d in Title IX were never understood to include \u201cgender identity\u201d or \u201csexual orientation\u201d but that the rule was rather widely understood to address biological sex. The coalition\u2019s lawsuit also noted that even under the \u201climited circumstances\u201d where sex discrimination is permissible per the new rule, the norm of gender-separate restrooms and locker rooms is not included.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration\u2019s rule also comes in stark contrast to many states that have set up protections for women and girls by barring men from using their private spaces and competing in their sports. If it goes into effect, those states could see their federal education dollars threatened if their schools do not comply.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe final rule lays bare the Biden administration\u2019s contempt for families, trumping state laws which reiterate parents\u2019 right to access information and make decisions about issues related to their children\u2019s gender identity in schools,\u201d PDE President Nicole Neily said in a press release.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Neily also noted another aspect of the rule that could put students at risk of harassment complaints for simply voicing some opinions that others find offensive. \u201cBy lowering the standard of \u2018harassment\u2019 to little more than a one-off expression of humor, satire, or parody, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/states-push-to-rein-in-big-tech-as-federal-gears-grind-slow\/\" title=\"States Push to Rein in Big Tech as Federal Gears Grind Slow\">free speech rights<\/a> of every young learner in America has become subordinate to how the most sensitive student might interpret a phrase,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit comes after another coalition of states, Louisiana, Mississippi, Idaho, and Montana, joined by advocacy group Defense of Freedom Institute, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/2983003\/lawsuits-biden-administrations-title-ix-redefinition-sex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>filed suit<\/a> to challenge the rules on Monday.
