Doorley\u200c attributed her behavior to work stress and her husband&#8217;s health issues. She expressed deep regret for\u200c failing to \u2064meet her standards \u200band acknowledged the importance of \u2064respect for law enforcement. This comes amid an investigation by Governor Kathy Hochul.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley released a video apologizing for her behavior and interaction with a police officer during a traffic stop last week. <\/p>\n<p>Doorley cited \u201cwork stress\u201d and a \u201cfrightening medical concern\u201d of her husband as the impetus for her behavior.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast Monday, I failed you and the standards that I hold myself to, and for that, I am so sorry,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whec.com\/local\/da-sandra-doorley-releases-video-statement-apologizing-for-behavior-during-traffic-stop\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Doorley said in her opening remarks in the video<\/a>. \u201cWhat I did was wrong, no excuses. I take full responsibility for my actions. I fell short of the values I\u2019ve held for my entire 33-year career. I didn\u2019t treat this officer with the respect he deserved. All police officers deserve respect. I am truly and sincerely sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had just come from work. I was dealing with three homicides that occurred over the weekend,\u201d Doorley said. \u201cI watched a video where an innocent cab driver was executed. And I was still reeling from a frightening medical concern my husband received that afternoon. But we all have bad days and stress, and it was wrong for me to take it out on an officer who was simply doing his job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The video comes after Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) announced she was calling for an investigation into Doorley and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2982557\/kathy-hochul-rebukes-state-district-attorney-berated-police-officer-traffic-stop\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">referred her to the New York State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct<\/a>. Hochul further scolded Doorley and said she acted in a \u201ccontravention of her responsibility\u201d and \u201cundermined her ability to hold others accountable for violating the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDistrict Attorneys are responsible for prosecuting criminal and traffic offenses and must perform their duties with the highest ethical standards,\u201d <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wxxinews.org\/local-news\/2024-04-28\/hochul-seeks-state-investigation-of-sandra-doorley-saying-the-da-undermined-her-ability-to-serve\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hochul said\u00a0in the statement<\/a>. \u201cEarlier today, I referred the Monroe County District Attorney to the Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct following the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kathy-hochul-says-state-district-attorney-undermined-her-ability-to-serve\/\" title=\"Kathy Hochul claims <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/radical-cultural-change-coming-to-america\/\" title=\"Radical Cultural Change Coming to America?\">district attorney<\/a> hindered her service&#8221;>police body cam footage showing<\/a> her claiming she is above the law, attempting to use her public office to evade responsibility, and acting unprofessionally towards a police officer simply trying to do his job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn doing so, she was acting in contravention of her responsibility as a District Attorney and undermined her ability to hold others accountable for violating the law,\u201d Hochul said. \u201cWe are deeply grateful to the men and women of law enforcement who put on a uniform each day to protect the safety of all New Yorkers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen as to what, if any, punishment Doorley will receive.
