Cotton accuses Bowser of neglecting citizens&#8217; rights by letting a &#8220;terrorist-supporting mob&#8221; control a university area. Tom Cotton (R-AR) is pressuring Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser to help police <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/2982739\/george-washington-university-students-topple-barricades-police-violation-trust\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>clear<\/a> the pro-Palestinian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/2980290\/protesters-several-dc-area-schools-unite-large-demonstration-gwu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>protesters\u2019<\/a> encampment at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/2983346\/gwu-hateful-language-no-place-on-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>George Washington University<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cotton wrote a letter to Bowser, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2024\/04\/29\/exclusive-sen-cotton-mayor-bowser-let-cops-clear-leftist-protests-george-washington-university\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>accusing her of<\/a> \u201cfailing to protect the rights of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-sheriffs-tell-newsom-they-wont-enforce-covid-curfew\/\" title=\"California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won't Enforce COVID Curfew\">law-abiding citizens<\/a> by letting a terrorist-supporting mob take over a large area of a university.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Washington, D.C., police denied the private university\u2019s requests to receive help to clear the encampment because they were \u201cworried about the optics of moving against a small number of peaceful protesters,\u201d the <em>Washington Post<\/em> reported on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCampus officials requested help from the D.C. Your actions are a good reminder of why Washington, D.C. must never become a state.
