Prior to the election\u2064 deadline, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-dems-know-they-will-lose-if-midterms-are-referendum-on-joe-biden\/\" title=\"Psaki: Dems Know They Will Lose If Midterms Are Referendum on Joe Biden\">party focused<\/a> \u2063on \u2064recruiting Democrats for these positions.\u2063 Chairwoman Nikki Fried \u2062emphasized their commitment to compete in\u200b each district, \u2064challenging \u200bRepublican control.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Florida<\/a> Democrats will have a candidate running for their party in every one of the 28 state House districts for the first time since 2018, the Florida <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democratic Party<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridadems.org\/2024\/04\/26\/florida-democrats-file-to-contest-all-28-congressional-districts-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>announced<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last Friday was the state\u2019s election filing deadline, and the Florida Democratic Party made a conscious effort this election cycle to recruit Democrats to run for every seat in the Republican-dominated state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlorida Democrats just filed to compete for every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-continuous-media-covid-fear-mongering-may-backfire-and-diminish-democrat-voter-turnout\/\" title=\"The Continuous Media COVID Fear Mongering May BACKFIRE and Diminish Democrat Voter Turnout\">congressional seat<\/a>,\u201d Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Nikki Fried said. \u201cIt does not matter if we\u2019re running in Pensacola or Key West, every part of this state is worth fighting for and we are not going to let Florida Republicans walk into office without being held accountable. Florida Democrats are fired up and ready to compete everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The GOP holds 20 out of the state\u2019s 28 House seats, and 19 of those seats are rated \u201csolid Republican\u201d by the Cook Political Report. Only three seats in the state are listed as competitive by the Cook Political Report.<\/p>\n<p>But Democrats have <a href=\"https:\/\/dos.elections.myflorida.com\/candidates\/CanList.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>candidates<\/a> trying in every district, even in districts that have popular Republican incumbents.<\/p>\n<h2>Florida 1 \u2013 Matt Gaetz (R-FL), COOK PVI R+19<\/h2>\n<figure><figcaption>Rep. (AP)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Gaetz has one of the safest seats in the state as voters have elected him in landslides the past four election cycles. <\/p>\n<p>Gay Valimont, a mother and <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Gay_Valimont\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>self-described<\/a> gun violence prevention activist, will be Gaetz\u2019s lone challenger. Valimont has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/candidate\/H4FL01197\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>raised<\/a> a little over $280,000 for her campaign, against over $4.5 million for Gaetz.<\/p>\n<h2>Florida 12 \u2013 Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), COOK PVI R+17<\/h2>\n<figure><figcaption>Rep. (Greg Nash\/Pool via AP)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bilirakis is a longtime incumbent for Florida\u2019s 12th Congressional District, holding his House seat with dominant victories in every House election in the district since 2012. <\/p>\n<p>His opponent is Democrat Rock Aboujaoude Jr., a recent University of Florida graduate student who ran unsuccessfully for a Florida House seat in 2020. Aboujaoude Jr. <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/H4FL02112\/1779901\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>filed<\/a> on April 26, the last day candidates can file to run for election in Florida. He has no listed funds raised.<\/p>\n<h2>Florida 27 \u2013 Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), COOK PVI EVEN<\/h2>\n<figure><figcaption>Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL). (AP Photo\/Rebecca Blackwell, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Two Democrats are running against Salazar in a district that nearly tied in votes for President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Salazar has been much more popular, with voters electing her by about 15 points in the 2022 election. Lucia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/candidate\/H4FL27010\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Baez-Geller<\/a> and Michael <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/candidate\/H4FL27036\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Davey<\/a> have raised about $550,000 together against Salazar\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/candidate\/H8FL27185\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>over<\/a> $1.8 million. <\/p>\n<h2>Florida 13 \u2013 Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), COOK PVI R+6<\/h2>\n<figure><figcaption>Rep. The Cook Political Report has rated it as \u201cLikely Republican,\u201d and Democrats have responded by recruiting six candidates to run against Luna in the district.<\/p>\n<p>Luna flipped the district in 2022 with an eight-point victory, but will face a crowded Democratic group headlined by lead fundraiser Whitney Fox, the <a href=\"https:\/\/whitneyfoxforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>former<\/a> Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority communications director. Fox has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/candidate\/H4FL13200\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>raised<\/a> about $420,000 to Luna\u2019s nearly $1.3 million.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While Democrats are unlikely to coax any seats away from Republicans in 2024, they\u2019ll not leave a House race unopposed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we have candidates running everywhere, we give Democrats in every corner of the state a reason to show up and vote on Election Day,\u201d Fried said. \u201cIf I were Rick Scott or Donald Trump, I would be very nervous.
