Kathy Hochul \u200b(D-NY) referred DA Sandra Doorley to the \u200cNY State Commission on\u200b Prosecutorial Conduct due to controversial \u2062behavior \u200dcaptured in bodycam footage from a Webster, NY \u200btraffic stop. Doorley&#8217;s actions included refusing\u200b to comply with the officer&#8217;s commands and berating him. In response, Rochester\u2019s City Council \u200crequested an investigation by NY State Attorney General Letitia James. Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) sought further action \u200cagainst District Attorney Sandra Doorley by involving\u200c the NY State Commission on Prosecutorial \u200bConduct. Subsequently,\u200b Rochester\u2019s City Council urged an investigation by\u200b NY State Attorney General \u200dLetitia James.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>On Sunday, Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kathy-hochul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kathy Hochul <\/a>(D-NY) referred Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ny.gov\/new-york-state-commission-prosecutorial-conduct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York State Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The decision\u00a0was prompted by the emergence of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxxinews.org\/local-news\/2024-04-28\/hochul-seeks-state-investigation-of-sandra-doorley-saying-the-da-undermined-her-ability-to-serve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bodycam footage that <\/a>revealed Doorley\u2019s controversial actions and statements during a traffic stop in Webster, New York, last week. Doorley replied, \u201cI don\u2019t really care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doorley then called someone and asked that person to tell the officer to leave her alone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan you please tell him to leave me alone?\u201d\u00a0Doorley said on the phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe failed to stop, drove all the way back home, and parked in her drive,\u201d the officer said to the person on Doorley\u2019s phone. \u201cAnd now she\u2019s not complying with any of my commands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doorley then walked away from the officer and went inside her house.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMa\u2019am, you can\u2019t just go inside, this is a traffic stop,\u201d the officer told her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, I can. I understand the law better than you,\u201d Doorley told the officer. \u201cGet out of my f***ing house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to Doorley\u2019s behavior, Rochester\u2019s City Council wrote a letter to New York State Attorney General Letitia James requesting that she launch an investigation into the \u201cconduct of Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley,\u201d News10 NBC <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WHEC_JLewke\/status\/1784275345023123721?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1784275345023123721%7Ctwgr%5E4220d323bb8be16c92a0c02e5c4f9e486486a2fd%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.police1.com%2Ftraffic-patrol%2Fnew-york-da-caught-on-bodycam-berating-officer-during-traffic-stop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>. The letter claimed that public officials are held to the \u201chighest standards of ethics, accountability, and respect for the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe behavior exhibited by Ms. Doorley during the traffic stop, as captured in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/9-year-old-girl-pepper-sprayed-during-interaction-with-rochester-police\/\" title=\"9-Year-Old Girl Pepper Sprayed During Interaction With Rochester Police\">body camera footage<\/a>, appears to violate these standards,\u201d\u00a0the letter read.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul was also heavily critical of Doorley, considered the incident unacceptable, and accused Doorley of \u201cclaiming she is above the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDistrict Attorneys are responsible for prosecuting criminal and traffic\u00a0offenses,\u00a0and must perform their duties with the highest ethical standards.
