Netanyahu \u2064asserts that ICC decisions\u2063 won&#8217;t sway Israel&#8217;s actions but could establish a risky precedent. \u200bIsraeli\u200b officials await further developments from the Hague-based court.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/benjamin-netanyahu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a>, could be served arrest warrants this week from the International Criminal Court on charges related to the country\u2019s military campaign in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Gaza<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli and other foreign officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/28\/world\/middleeast\/icc-arrest-warrants-israel-hamas.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reportedly<\/a> believe Hamas leaders face arrest warrants too.<\/p>\n<p>The ICC has not confirmed its plans, but senior officials in the Israeli government are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/23-house-republicans-demand-reinstatement-of-space-force-commander-fired-for-criticizing-marxism\/\" title=\"23 House Republicans Demand Reinstatement Of Space Force Commander Fired For Criticizing Marxism\">growing increasingly concerned<\/a> that the warrants will be issued, according to multiple reports. (AP Photo\/Leo Correa, Pool)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/uk-govt-lockdown-to-last-12-months-expect-repeated-vaccinations\/\" title=\"UK Govt: Lockdown to Last 12+ Months, Expect Repeated Vaccinations\">prime minister<\/a> has reportedly been speaking frequently on the phone to prevent such an outcome, with the Biden administration among those with whom he has spoken. While President Joe Biden and Netanyahu have had their rifts, Biden has been steadfast in his support for Israel.<\/p>\n<p>The ICC has been investigating Hamas\u2019s Oct. 7 attack on Israel, where about 1,200 people were killed and hundreds more were taken hostage. (AP Photo\/Leo Correa)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Friday, Netanyahu said any decision by the ICC would not affect Israel\u2019s actions but could set a \u201cdangerous precedent.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder my leadership, Israel will never accept any attempt by the International Criminal Court in the Hague to undermine its basic right to defend itself,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/netanyahu-says-icc-decisions-will-not-affect-israels-actions-set-dangerous-2024-04-26\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>wrote<\/a> in a Telegram post. \u201cWhile decisions made by the court in the Hague will not affect Israel\u2019s actions, they will set a dangerous precedent that threatens soldiers and public figures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neither Israel nor the United States are members of the court, based in the Netherlands. The Palestinian territories were admitted in 2015. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and IDF chief of staff Herzl Halevi are also believed to be possible targets of the arrest warrants.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) said that, due to the reports of the ICC preparing arrest warrants against Israeli officials, he is inviting the president and prosecutor of the court to testify before the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) responded to the reports by saying \u201cThe ICC\u2019s abuse of power must be met with strong consequences from both Congress and the President.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though Hamas is the undeniable cause of the war in Gaza, the ICC might target Israel as though it were aggressor, as though Hamas had never committed October 7th,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RitchieTorres\/status\/1784644705529233454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>he wrote<\/a> on X. \u201cThe issuance of arrest warrants would represent the culmination of a long process of criminalizing the world\u2019s only Jewish State.
