Absolutely. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/quentin-tarantino-wont-bend-china-refuses-edit-film-appease\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hardheaded<\/a>, almost to a fault? Indeed.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, abandoning an anticipated project isn\u2019t something new for Tarantino, given that \u201cStar Trek\u201d fans are still waiting for <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/feature\/quentin-tarantino-star-trek-explained-1235184059\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that R-rated film<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The one who <em>were<\/em> surprised: Tarantino, for as quirky and weird as he is, clearly still put a lot of thought and passion into \u201cThe Movie Critic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To just up and abandon it seemed like a move out of left field.<\/p>\n<p>Surprised or not, however, a new report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-features\/quentin-tarantino-movie-critic-what-happened-1235879479\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> is shedding some light on just how deep the rabbit hole went when it came to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/quentin-tarantino-changes-mind-10th-final-film-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Movie Critic<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(For the unaware, Tarantino has vocally expressed his fear of becoming stale and out-of-touch, so he set his 10th feature film to be his last, though he still plans to stay in the industry, whether with television or plays.)<\/p>\n<p>First, according to THR, \u201cThe Movie Critic\u201d went through extensive revisions from Tarantino, but the film was still expected to begin production this year, with proper filming in 2025.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you generally like Tarantino films?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>That alone should give you a clue as to just how close Tarantino was.<\/p>\n<p>Second, THR divulged some potential plot details for the film that seemed far beyond the scope of what Tarantino typically does (telling hyper-stylized, self-contained stories).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe film\u2019s exact story details are not known, but sources familiar with the project dropped a couple intriguing ideas to THR that Tarantino was toying with,\u201d the outlet noted. \u201cOne was that the Hollywood-set tale could serve as a Tarantino goodbye meta-verse with the director\u2019s earlier movies existing in the same era of The Movie Critic (which could work, given that his films have a \u201970s vibe).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat way, Tarantino could bring back some of the stars of his earlier work to reprise their iconic characters in \u2018movie within a movie\u2019 moments, or to play fictional versions of themselves as the actors who played those characters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another round for Samuel L. Jackson as Jules and John Travolta as Vincent? Uma Thurman reprising The Bride once more? Mr. Blonde, Mr. Orange and Mr. Pink again?<\/p>\n<p>How could any Tarantino fan not salivate at the thought of that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/9-horror-movie-cliches-that-need-to-die\/\" title=\"9 Horror Movie Cliches That Need to Die\">meta story<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Third, THR also pointed out the litany of big-star names that were attached to the project at various points. Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Jamie Foxx were all rumored to be attached to Tarantino\u2019s grand finale.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest name in all the rumors was Tom Cruise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCruise, in Tarantino lore, was first eyed for Pitt\u2019s Once Upon a Time role, but scheduling forced him to bow out,\u201d The Hollywood Reported noted. \u201cFans were shipping a Cruise-Tarantino pairing, but The Movie Critic wasn\u2019t actually going to bring them together. According to sources, Cruise hadn\u2019t even met with the filmmaker for a role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a whole lot of time, effort, and big names circling \u201cThe Movie Critic,\u201d a film that will never be made, apparently.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, THR painted Tarantino\u2019s rejection of \u201cThe Movie Critic\u201d as being akin to a child losing interest in old toys when Christmas brings new ones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose who know Tarantino (who had no comment for this story) aren\u2019t saying precisely why he shelved the film, only that he had grown more excited by other ideas,\u201d THR reports.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, an unnamed source told the outlet that Tarantino \u201chas a lot of scripts that he\u2019s thrown away.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
